2010 Service / Workshop Manual

Ive just got myself a 2010 R1200gs and was wondering if anyone knew anylinks where I could download a service / workshop manual in pdf that j can keep handy on my phone

Would appreciate the help

The dvd’s I’ve seen or heard about on the net are mostly pirate copies with the dangers of viruses etc. I’d not touch them. Get a Haynes manual I’ve serviced my three bm’s using this and and if you feel confident about owning your BM long term get a gs911.

I would be interested to hear what books/manuals/PDF's you have in the past found easier to follow than the Haynes.
Perhaps it's the Clymer manuals of which i have no experience but can imagine they are much the same.

Always managed to find a dealer workshop style manual which tend just to be a better laid out

Trouble is I think you’ve got to be working on these bikes continually to grasp how to interpret some points in these manuals. I’ve kept lots of the install and user hand over manuals from my time in the fish/ fishing industry looking at some of them now I’ve written loads in the margins of my copies to fill in points that haven’t been made clear. Saying that, Baader ( the German company I worked for) made a dashed good job of writing them, probably because field guys like us gave them feed back.

I used to write instruction manuals and project documentation. They have to be completely consistent so it's almost a programming job. The hardest part was getting engineers to technically criticise the text. I usually got it back with full stops and commas marked but tech stuff, I knew was questionable for accuracy still uncommented.

I have the Haynes manual for the 2010-2012 GS Twin Cams. It's actually very very good.

A Haynes manual occasionally needs some clarification which is easy to get on this forum, U tube and good old Google.
I have been looking after my 2012 TC for 4 years now (after warranty expired) and just reached 50,000 miles, looking forward to the next 50,000.

What's a Linux box Bendy?

Linux (e.g. Ubuntu) is the open source operating system that works on old PCs. It's immune to Windows viruses so can extract data files from infected discs. You would then need to virus check the actual data files before running on a Windows machine.

Older versions of Ubuntu needed a lot of techie work to get running. Today its reliable and does the job very well.
