So my grips are showing their age, so wanted to ask if anyone has opted for aftermarket replacements that they could recommend please?

Not wanting grip puppys or anything just want to freshen up the bars with normal grips. I dont suffer from vibrations or anything quite happy with the standard ones if i can find some.

Many thanks
Mark

Mine are the same. You can supposedly buy the rubber part from BMW and replace it. The heated part isn't in the rubber part just need to be careful not to damage it removing the old grip. I have ordered some heat shrink covers from Ali express which haven't arrived yet. I'll let you know if they tidy it up when they arrive.

As far as I know, BMW don’t sell just the rubber grips, you have to buy the complete assembly…..

But……

Motorworks do a set, not sure if they are identical pattern to the OEM. They even supply a fitting guide.

Here you go

Cool, thanks for that. I thought you could buy them. Must have been aftermarket ones I'd seen.
I'm trying to link to the shrink wrap but finding it difficult. Try this

Had a go removing the rubber grip from my o.e heated grip as I was not working , absolute bastard , tore the grip to pieces, good luck doing that .might be some trick to it but as I already had a replacement to go on no bi dal

Very simple job. I do it regularly for customers. Buy the replacement rubber grips off Motorworks. Slice along the old grips with a very sharp knife (I use a scalpel) then peel them off. Spray the handlebar grip and rubber grip with hair spray. Slide on the new grip into place with a twist and push. Leave it for 5/10 minutes so the hair spray has dried out and the grip has stuck in place. The hair spray acts as a lubricant when wet, and acts as an adhesive as it dries .

Thanks for the info, will get these ordered and try it out..

For anyone who has bought these when the motorworks website listing asks about the rotary controller switchgear is this for likes of my bike that has the esa and asc buttons so I would need HAA02626?

Cheers

I would think that's refering to the flappy wheel controller for sat nav etc on later models.

Cheers folks, be interested to find out how you get on Gazza with the heatshrink ones off Ali..

Nearly a year later and I've just fitted them
Bolts in the end of the handlebars were fun to get out.got there in the end
Trimmed about 5mm off to fit. Then with a heat gun shrink them on. Very pleased. Didn't take a before pic but mine were very worn.

Great fix! What was the internal diameter of these when cold please, as there are lots of different sizes to chose from......

Didn't think to measure them. I can tell you that they just fitted over the wider end of the stock grip which might help you determine the size.

The Ali express ones in my link above are 12cm by 6cms .
