It would be nice to see the finished bike defo looks promising :thumb2
 
I can only assume they are releasing such inane marketing drivel at this time in an effort to stop people putting deposits on the new Duke.
Why don`t they save their budget for finishing the bike a bit faster.:nenau
 
According to the motorcycle press the bike is already finished and dealers have been given limited information, but Yamaha's finances are in such a mess they can't afford to put it into production until the spring.

Not sure I follow the logic of the above, but hey ho.

Personally I would have preferred a smaller capacity lighter bike such as a 750-950cc twin, but it seems the 1200cc market is the one everyone wants to take a pop at.

In the meantime I'm getting my Tenere ready to transfer it down to Spain in the New Year, then it's Morocco bound.

Anybody know what sort of prices we are talking here. I've just been up to my local Yam dealers and the price increases for next year are phenominal. They must not of been told there is a recession on:blast.
still got my 1vj so won't need to upgrade for 5- 10 years yet:)

Acropovic? Is that a new spelling?

I have to say, it's looking good. Knowing Yamaha in Turkey they'll probably only import 3 though, they really are crap.

Honda had some pretty hefty price increases last year I seem to remember too.

Well, based on that vid I'm quite liking it's looks :)

As has been said though,a shame it's capacity isn't a bit smaller, I've also a horrible feeling it'll be quite a lardy bike :nenau

Will be interesting to see one in the flesh and I'd defo. be interested in trying one out, I think.

Aree there not to Pipe manufacturers with a similar name. The ones from Slovenia have the spelling with a "K" and the other Company with a "C"...!!!

Not 100% but read it somewhere before to make sure people got the correct ones.


I agree with Andres that its a pity there isn't a smaller engined version too around 750-800 which would change its feel so much and be more enjoyable round the lanes:thumb

Just seen the correct spelling with the "K" in the video so see where you were coming from now.

By the way, it looks absolutely superb and will definately take alot of sales from the GS
 
But, are the bikes in the vids real? Are they what we can expect?

No they're all mockups. The general consensus is that they will most likely look very similar to those but I think it's too much to dream that they'd really give a high or low fender option and a rally option! Yamaha haven't released any full pictures of the bikes yet as far as I'm aware and certainly there's no information about colours etc.

Suggesting a price of £11K....:augie Thats the same as the basic Multistrada 1200.
Needs to be about £1k below the basic price of a 1200GS;what's that these days,10K? .

Needs to be about £8k no abs or traction control, less weight than the 660, simple, bombproof and home serviceable and built to withstand at least 8 winters, then I'd be at the front of the queue :augie

If my 87 R80 g/s can manage it, (ok 2kg over weight) then surely 23 years later it should be a breeze :thumb
 
No problem, just wait until they start stockpiling and they get discounted, just like Yamaha have done with overpriced bikes in the past such as the original Fazer 1000 and that big Bulldog or whatever it was called.
The TRX850 went through the same thing for a while. My neighbour paid full £7300 RRP when they first came out. About a year later you could get one for about £5000. Ironically they seem to be becoming desirable now and holding their current prices.
