Hi, Hoping someone may have had this...

My indicators flash fast (Front and rear) on the right hand side only and all lights/bulbs light up and are working. They are standard bmw LED indicators that were on the bike from new. The left hand side is fine and they all flash at the correct speed when hazard lights are on.

Any ideas where to start looking? I'm guessing it must be a resistance thing! So far I have swapped the front indicators over and the problem remains the same, I will try swapping the rears today and see if that does anything, hopefully eliminate a dodgy indicator being the fault.

I do recall this happening intermittently in the past. On occasions the display would show lampf warning when the right hand side indicators were on and they would start to flash fast but it would only happen on odd occasions but now it's all the time. The other thing I noticed is that the indicators flash fast with the ignition on but engine not running, so not sure if they all do that that.

I have searched for this issue and it seems this has been raised once or twice but no one has come back saying what the actual issue was or what they did to resolve it.

It's due the MOT but this will fail the mot so need to get it sorted out first.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated:thumby:

I know some after market Led indicators have a relay to regulate the speed. It could be the same for factory fit ones and the relay isn’t working.

See what happens when you swop the rear indicators. I’ve had this problem on several customers bikes and it’s always been an indicator unit that’s caused the problem.

How fast is fast?

The mot regs are fairly generous on the flash rate

60- 120 a minute

You were correct Steptoe.
It seems to be the rear rh indicator. Odd thing though, when I swapped sides all indicators worked fine, shame they are sided or I could leave them like that.

Thanks for the help chaps. I'll get a new rear indicator.

Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that, but it might be worth exploring inside the unit to see if there’s something like corrosion creating the problem. A quick poke about on Sunday before placing your order for a replacement on Monday if you can’t fix it won’t matter much.

Good luck

Yes it might well be worth looking at inside, if nothing else just to see why it failed, plus £40+ for a new one is not ideal
