2011 GSA - it wouldn't start

Hi,
Both 08 sporty and my 2011 GSA not used since end of October sat on optimates.
Fitted new tyres to sporty as season is approaching. Thought I would start them and let them tick over until warm. Sporty started first press GSA would not fire, cranked it loads of times with a break in between to allow starter a rest, having put back on optimate for an hour tried again. Eventually splutter pop bang and it started. Revved it a little and it died. Smell of petrol! Tried again and let it run until warm, then it started easy, like normal.
Why???????????

Ditto.

Sunday. Lovely day. Sunny and warm (ish). Opened the garage. Got broom for a tidy up. Johnny Walker on the radio. Wonder if the bikes will run up, pre-Spring?

'95 Guzzi 1100 Spt on carbs. Two pumps of the throttle and Rooaaaar!!

2007 GSA. Grunt, grunt, grunt. Nothing. Try again. Grunt, grunt, pop. Try again. Grunt, grunt, grunt, pop, bang, pop, pop, struggle, then settles down to usual lumpy tick over. At least you know the oil press is up before it eventually fires...

Situation normal. Leave her for more than a couple of weeks with out being ridden and it's much the same... Bit like my daughter. Reluctant to get out of bed:augie.....

Fluff.

"Get a broom and TIDY UP the garage?" statements like that should bring immediate removal from this site!! Sacralige!!.

When I ship bikes out to teh US in containers, they obviously aren't started for around 5 weeks. Quite often, some of the bikes will do this but once going, they are no problem. Maybe it's a quirk with the fuel system.

Just a note, you aren't doing the bike any good just starting and running the bike until warm then leaving it for a few months. Your best bet is take the battery off, keep it in a warm place, reconnect when you are ready to ride it again and only ACF it once:augie
Do Nippy Norman do a quirk trap?

WARNING
The catchment tank may be required to double as a pressure vessel in both positive and negative states for quirk capture and will be required to demonstrate that the essential safety requirements are satisfied. Equipment thus installed will be subject to conformity assessment based on EC Decision 93/465/EEC of 22 July 1993 which set down a framework of conformity assessment ‘modules’ intended for use in New Approach Directives. According to the category of the equipment, manufacturers will be given a choice of ‘modules’ described in Annex E.
Access to Annex E is subject to the 1997 Licensing Act (Persons of Reputable Standing) and can be accessed by those holding a suitable Certificate of Conformity [Certified Cock Cert].

You could, of course vent the quirks straight to atmosphere. In this case no conformity will be required save for a valid Free Access Removal Ticket (or FART).

You pays your money and takes your choice.
