2012.40

Worked for me, but the lazy Scots still haven't finished that southern section of the M74 they claimed they opened last year. Bet they got lots of EU money towards it and spent it on secret fish processing plants.

I'll pull the 660 off the bike after today's run and plug it in.
Suppose it's too much to expect that they may have separated Filling Stations from the local Asian shops when you search for fuel?

Just had this problem. I have ticked the 'delete everything to fit' option.

Installation now underway.

Checked Basecamp and it can't find the new map even though I ticked download to computer and GPS

Basecamp can see the map loaded on the GPS but I can't work out how to transfer the map from the GPS back to the computer.

Given up and now downloading again just to computer

Feckin' thing.

Downloaded and installed the 2012.40 map, via the Garmin nuMaps Lifetime updater, to both my PC and 660.

The 2012.40 map on the device is fine, fully installed and functioning.

The 2012.40 map on the PC refuses point blank to unlock.

Previously, the downloaded maps installed themselves along with their correct product and unlock codes, all ready to go. Why they went away from this simple basis I have no idea.

I have tried every combination known to man up to and including letting Garmin find the unlock code for me. I get a nice happy green message that the map is successfully unlocked but on opening Mapsource it very plainly isn't.

Now reinstalling the map 2012.40 again, to see if that triggers something into life.

....... but I can't work out how to transfer the map from the GPS back to the computer.

You can't. Or at least I am reasonably sure you can't.

Welcome to the club. I haven't tried it on my Mac yet, as I am still battling with the PC.

Mapsource on my PC created an official 'Garmin' error message, along the lines that the unlock code could not find the file and asking that I send the message to Garnin, which I did.

I'm a Mac man.

Using the Lifetime updater it wouldn't let me download again - so I had to choose the alternative of a traditional download, and selected to Mac only.

This worked and I now have 2012.40 on both machines :thumb2

PITA

Nope, made no odds at all.

Call to Garnin tomorrow then.

Just a thought: AFAIK the install creates 2 files: the (big) gmap folder in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Garmin\Maps and the (small) gma unlock file in %APPDATA%\Garmin\Maps). I wonder if the installation process has put the gma file in the wrong place? If you can search for the gma file (i.e. the one with today's date), it could be worth checking its location and, if necessary, moving it to the directory with the older gma file i.e. %APPDATA%\Garmin\Maps.

Like Cooperman - I use a Mac and the normal updater worked fine. Just took a long time on our internet connection.
Zumo is working fine (western europe maps loaded) with the info. showing up ok. Can't be arsed tonight figuring how to get Basecamp and Road Trip to use the new map. I never use them anyway...
Still - same thing tomorrow then when the car's Nuvi 765T needs the same thing.
But disappointing that it works fine for some, not for others when we're all often using the same stuff from Garmin to load the maps into the same machines.

Well, the new 2012.40 map loaded up onto my Mac without too much grief and unlocked itself automatically.

So, just the PC to deal with.

Thank you for that suggestion :thumb2 I'll give it a go this evening.

Just done mine no prob. (Sorry! :)). It took 2 hrs: 1 to download and 1 to verify/ install (fast broadband, slow PC). GMAP folder is in:

%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Garmin\Maps (sorry: typo above)...2.91GB.

Then there are 2 other new files: UnlockCodes.ucx plus the gma authorisation file (long, complicated name). Both of these are in:

%APPDATA%\Garmin\Maps. I don't think any other files are involved. You can update other PCs just by transferring these files to the correct directory. (Paste %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Garmin\Maps and %APPDATA%\Garmin\Maps into Windows Explorer Address Bar: specific directory location varies with version of Windows).
