Hi all,

I'm currently 'in negotiations' to purchase a new 2013 F 800 GS. In trying to get the best possible deal I've reached an impasse in that the authorised dealer I'm speaking to is saying your 'discount' is on the first 'free' service because all other dealers charge around £300 for first service.

I'd be interested to hear what current F 800 GS owners have been paying for services. My current F 650 CS had a first service 'free of charge'.:clap

many thanks,

best

Welcome to the site!

Hopefully the deal will work out and you'll become a regular.

Dealer servicing should be standardised nationwide (give or take about £30 IIRC from other tossers posts)

By first service do you mean the 600 mile or the 6k? (i'm assuming service intervals remain the same as for 08 on models...)

For what it's worth my 600 mile was free, 6k was £126 and then I started doing the servicing / maintainence myself.

Hope helps,

S

I think it depends on the demand there is in the market... Since the bike had a facelift this year, I think dealers will be hesitant to make very large discounts since demand will rise...
Back in 2009, I bought my full extra f800gs in its normal listing price, with the bmw alarm fitted as bonus plus the ~100 euro road tax as a gift...I paid the first 1000Km service normally, which was about 80 euro.
After about a year, there was an offer of free extras, of 1500 euro value, with the purchase of a new bike (eg you could get the aluminum panniers for free)... I assume that was due to dropped sales..
Most expensive service was at 20.000 Km which was at about 290 euro. Others (1st year & 2nd year service) were between 120-180 euro... but I really dont think the 1st service will cost 300 pounds!!

My 600 mile service cost £106 last Tuesday. My only discount on the bike (f650gs loaded with every option) was a free vario top box, so that equalled £385.

I don't think the dealers have much margin to play with these days and when supply is restricted why should the dealer discount when they only have a limited supply to sell.

Or it could be that I'm a gullible mug.

I actually achieved my target price on my trade in so possibly my discount was built into that. Also I was not buying on "Select Finance" so the dealer would have no contribution from that.

Anyway I wasn't unhappy with my change - the dealer gave me £12,800 back on my GSA :rob

£300 is way over the top for a first service.

I have had many new bikes. - I have only once been charged for a first service, at Vines, and that wasapprox £150.

All other have been fluids only at approx £60 inc vat. And that is ranging from F800 to K1600 GT

Tell them you'll pay for the first service and that you want the £300 knocked off the price of the bike:nenau:thumb

+1 the above , it doesn't cost them £300 , and that's £300 you can either choose to use now or reduce finance. Lastly when you can phone around ofr a first service which as stated above should be £100 ish

Keep an eye on here for top boxes panniers etc they are always coming up

Have you tried another dealer?I see you`re in Slough you have Vines,Bahnstormers or North Oxford Garage not to far away. When I need a service I always ring around to get the best price, same as with buying a bike.If you dont need finance and can wave cash even better.

Don't phone, pop in.

Hi Colbard

We've just completed the move from Bracknell to Maidenhead, so as your local dealer come on in and lets see what we can do, we're open after the bank holiday and bring along the spec of bike you want etc.

I never ask for discount, that way I expect (and get) first class service throughout my ownership, and have a bigger stick to hit with if anything goes wrong. It works out cheaper in the long run because the dealer is more inclined to look after you. As an example I bought my 650Gs last september, first service fine, free. Second service 10k kms also free because I had a tyre issue during the year which was eventually replaced. I bet I wouldn't have got that second service free if i'd beaten them up for initial discount.

PS

Forgot to say,

Any new machine purchased through either Bahnstormer dealerships has its 600 mile running in service carried out free of labour charges, you only pay for the oil and filter. :thumb2

See you in Maidenhead

I'm no expert but the 1500 pex sounds OK,

Hi all,

I have just ordered a F 800 GS 13, with both packs, LED indicators and sump guard.

Came to about just under £10k all in (exact figure on a reciept I cant sem put my hands on at the mo)

Managaed a 7% discount with decent finance by asking around dealers for their best price, so with a little persistence it can be done. :)

As mentioned your Local dealer will want to help you out more than any other, so always go back and see what they can do for you.

Good luck, can't wait for mine :roll
