2013 GS Pictures and Videos

There are 3 different headlight options available. High low halogen like we have now but different shape, same but with the LED day light under the high beam and the 3rd being all LED and there are cooling fins under the high beam to cool the LED's via believe it or not a fan built into the unit. I have seen a cutaway of the all LED light and it's a work of art. Looks stupidly expensive though.

So obviously that's going to be an added option. I think I will be hanging onto my ff50,s spots hids and Miguel light bar then to put on the new one it looks like the only thing that's going to fit off the old bike is my crash bungs :blast
 
Apart from the knobblies single seat and engine bars on the silver one, anybody else notice the headlights are completely different:thumb

As above about the lights. Re the single seat, it's actually the off-road seat which is higher and harder, it is also narrower to allow riders to reach the ground easier. This replaces the high seat option

This isn't great for me, as I need the high seat but don't want to be sat on something resembling a block of concrete, and will dig in due to it being narrow :rolleyes: I'm wondering if the old seats will fit, or whether the new GSA seat will feat the new GS?

Being as though the crosstourer is one of the ugliest bikes I've seen there's no contest for me. But let's be honest, none of these bikes are the prettiest things in the world. However, the GS's (especially the GSA) looks like a big Tonka toy which is always a winner for em ;) Besides, it's all about the riding experience. No other bike has got under my skin like the GS/A.

The new V-strom prototype looks a lot better than the Crossdresser imo :thumb
 
I have to agree with you regarding the GS Adventure. I had both the 1150 and 1200 in the past and both look beautiful. But I definitely cannot say the same with the 2013 GS. It looks like a bird about to puke. The Crosstourer though may not be the best looking adventure bike, but I bet years from now, it is going to carve a big chunk of the dual-sports market because bottomline, nothing is more important than reliability when you are in places that these bike are expected to go.

And by the way, my Crosstourer is the best looking bike because it's the only one I have for now. Hehehe :-)

The GS is the better looking by a country mile. The crossdresser is just hideous:barf:D

As I said, I owned two BMW Adventures in the past. I can tell you the boxer is no match to the V4 engine of this bike, in both Hp and torque. Riding the Honda is a blast both in off and paved roads. Center of gravity is low which makes the Crosstourer easier to control during times when you're crawling in mud, and negating the weight disadvantage versus the GS. The traction control is much better than what I experienced in my 1200GSA. Integral ABS brake is just as good. But the clincher on why I crossed the Tiber are; EWS failed thrice, fuel gauge twice, final drive leak, all happening on my 12GSA over a 2 year period, while the fuel pump of my 1150 GSA was replaced twice. If they are issues not related with reliability, I do not know what is.

Make no mistake though that both of my GSA gave me more than 150,000 kilometers of fun. I look forward to doing the same on my Crosstourer, sans the above problems I hope.

Sounds good, would be interested to know what your thoughts are after a year or so's ownership :thumb2

How do you find the 'character' of the crossdresser? I know the boxer engine loses out to most similar bikes when it comes to stats, but I've found all other motors bland in comparison.

The new boxer will more than match the power and torque of the Crossdresser. With the extra 7 stone (45Kilos):eek: the Honda carries over the current GS I can't see where your coming from:rolleyes:
The biggest problem with the Honda is that it has an identity crisis:eek
It doesn't really know what it wants to be. Adventure bike, sports tourer ,Tourer it has no idea. On the A,B and in France the twisty D roads that I use the GS on, the reduced weight and far lower centre of gravity of the GS will make it much better and more useable.On dual carriageways and motorways maybe the Honda would be better, but is it? Does it have the protection needed for that type of road:nenau Which brings me back to the point.What is it for:confused: I guess the new model will highlight the Honda's weakness even more.Plus the Honda is bland and lacks character. The only real challenge to the GS in this class is the Yamaha.
Sorry but that fantastic V4 engine which they have strangled to death in the Crossdresser is wasted, leave it in the VFR and forget this class all together, that would be my advice to Honda:rolleyes:
 
The Crossdresser is like so many Japanese cars that are styled to be ugly. Contrived or what? Ugh!

At least the aircooled RxGS grew ugly because that's what got the job done. Most of it anyway. I'm not so sure about the new kettle version. It seems (to me) to be slipping into the styled ugly camp.
 
The biggest problem with the Honda is that as well as being plug ugly it is totally gay :D
 
Perhaps I have stirred a Hornet's nest here. I never claimed the Honda to be better than the GS. All I am saying that having ridden two GSAs, the Crosstourer could very well hold it's ground against the market leader. ( test ride one first before you shoot). But here is my point, the reason for my selling the Adventures and getting the Honda were the reliability issues that plagued me. Again, my bad experience maybe exceptions rather than the rule, but a fully functioning average motorcycle is way much better thAn a "dead" excellent one.
