2013 lc dilemma

We don't all join to have a good windge, though sometimes it does seem like that.

I love the TE I bought privately. I picked it because I had previously owned the HexHead version and after seeing the LC model at the bike show I was smitten.
It will do anything you need it to do better than you would be able do it. It looked the dogs, and does over 50mpg through town! I'll have mine till they runout of petrol.

Hopefully they should still have approx years warranty remaining. How much is a creditable extended warranty. For peace of mind.

I took out the BMW extended warranty on my previous K1200GT and it was a rolling £33 a month and included breakdown assist in UK and Europe. Glad I did as the abs pump failed... £1500 all covered though

I would not recommend anything other than the bmw warranty as it's as good as the original bar a few exclusions like the obvious consumables etc.

Had a brand new Explorer when they first came out.....kept it 6 months, did two trips to France on it so gave it time .....now on a 2009 GS again and happy with it....... but if f I had the spare dosh a new to me WC would replace it

Ignore the negatives on forums, and you'll be fine. I've not had a single issue on my 2014 bike, and have now done 6000 miles on it.

Absolutely, my current steed is pretty nippy and I don't want to lose too much speed. I'm willing to sacrifice some speed for comfort, but not too much!

Why not look at the KTM?

Unless you currently run a full fat sports bike you'll have an even quicker bike, one that handles sublimley and is comfy/designed for two up touring.
Oh, and you won't be on the same bike that every other rider out there is on

.............and he conveniently ommited to mention any issues he may have had with his 2013 WC..............they were fairly minor though so it probably slipped his mind

Are the 2013 models really that bad. I've got a max budget of £11.5 which unfortunately makes the 14' plate out of reach or just buy a brand new triumph explorer? Test ridden the explorer nice, comfy but heavy compared to my current bike kawa z1000sx. Only had chance to sit on the gs today in touratech, however the bike seems far lighter than the explorer and the ergonomics more suitable. Also I'm guessing the gs should be more powerful due to its weight.
By the way I understand that most people only join forums when they encounter problems. Just want confirmation that a second hand gs would be a better proposition than a brand new explorer.

I was going to suggest my 2014 GS TE with less than 2100 miles.
Registered in April 2014.

I may put my bike on MCN this weekend, however I'm not that confident in selling it as it's under a year old and I can't see me getting anywhere near what I want for it unless I part-ex. Which is unfortunate as there are much better deals if I buy a gs private.

Two test rides already on the standard 1190 and trying an R this weekend as that's the one I think I prefer.

I've seen a few standard ones around at your budget so if it appeals to you then get a test ride and there will be no going back

I swopped it for a new 2013 GS TE last summer, after renting a GS for a day in Austria. I found the Explorer to be a great bike but too top heavy, the GS-LC is much more fun, and feels much lighter which is enhanced by the better weight distribution (lower down) The switch gear is much better and feels like a proper part of the bike.
I have just purchased my second GS a new 2014 bike, my old 2013 GS which was faultless and fast, and it may still be for sale at Pidcocks in Derby, a great bike which I still miss, if you can get it you will love it, fastest colour too!

Thanks for the explorer comparison I had pretty much made my mind up Beemer all the way then Outtomunch throws ktm into the mix!
Just checked piddocks and your old one has gone.

No they are bloody fantastic 16,500 miles now and still love riding it everyday.

GS'es are cool Triumphs are dull, uninteresting and just plain boring in comparison - my advice is to get a basic 2013 bike without all the electronic nonsense if at all possible, all that stuff just detracts from what is dynamically a great bike.

I bought a 13 plate basic bike with 1800 miles on clock best bike ever had. I had a demo of a 14 plate TE didn't like all the gadgets and was not as smooth as the one I bought . One years BMW warranty with option of another year before it runs out. I never been happier. (Someone has to buy them)
