Hi guys,

I've been doing a bit of reading on here but can't find the answers I'm looking for.

I recently bought a low mileage 2013 GS that had been sat for a couple of years. Never had a GS before so had nothing to compare it to.

I noticed when giving it some beans that the power delivery was a bit lumpy through the revs. I thought it just needed fresh fuel and a good thrashing to clear things out, but I've since seen power and torque runs on YouTube that totally match what I'm feeling.

I'd really like to get it remapped, not really for more power, but to smooth out the delivery.

I'd also like to keep things stock since the bike is almost as new.

Anyone got experience of mapping a stock bike and would you say it's worth the cost?

Also, if anyone can suggest someone to do the work in South Wales area too, I'd appreciate the info.

Many thanks.

I know it’s not answering your question but the lumpyness that you are feeling is characteristic of the bike and I certainly enjoy it. I’ve hav quite a few bums over the years. If it’s not doing anything abnormal I’d leave it alone. JJH

Lol. That's certainly brazen shouting out you've had a lot of ass over the years.

Welcome in, IIRC if it's an early LC, rather than one of the last twin cams it has a lighter flywheel than the later LC models which possibly exaggerates things. What modes does it have and does that make any difference if you swap between them.

Yeah I guess it's the first of the LC's so would be the lighter flywheel.
From what was said so far, I should leave it alone and find some ass 😂
I've seen videos of maps smoothing out the power since it's runs lean as standard, so was curious if real people's experience as to if it's worth it.

2013 will be the lighter flywheel. A mapping won’t hurt, BMW map to hit emissions targets as well as the target feel and a customer map will be to your engine and power delivery so will inevitably smooth things out. I’ve got a 64 plate (heavier flywheel I believe) but having fitted an akro exhaust am considering a mapping to get the most out of the bike. Not sure if it’s worth the cost though so will be following the thread.

You're in danger of provoking the locals asking questions like that, if you start other threads on which oil and which tyres you'll have the set :ROFLMAO:

I took my 2016 LC to Hilltop in Hinkley but it really did divide opinion on the forum whether it worked or not but I thought my bike was much better for it, removing the dip circa 4.5k revs that was there to get it through the emissions, so you might want to do a search and have a read though not sure how much you'll be able to see without subscribing. IIRC I've read on a number of bike forums that there are bike remappers/tuners in Bristol but I've no experience of what they're like.

I took my 2017 GS to Hilltop and it was transformed, more midrange, better economy (when taking it easy), better throttle response. Mind you, I had just fitted Akrapovic headers with no catalyst, no valve and a servo emulator. I was so pleased that it put me off shelling out £15k to upgrade to a R1300GS.

After the pipe change and remap, I got almost 66mpg on a 242 mile run averaging 52mph. OK, I wasn't going that fast, I was on congested A-roads, but I think that's still pretty good for a 1200GS.

Wow, I wouldn't want to do a journey that long and at those speeds.

My r1250r did 64 mpg on a run from Cork. 180 miles. Mostly motorway. I had the cruse set at 110. That’s about 68 mph. Last 40 miles were mostly what we classify as r roads. That’s increadable for a bike like that. I’m in love. Honestly I don’t really care about economy as long as it doesn’t get stupid. JJH
