I’m looking at a 2013 liquid cooled which doesn’t have the wonder wheel or cruise.

I’ve been doing some searching and as yet haven’t come across one like this. So take it the first base models were available without this option.

If I go for it then can I fit it? I’m also keen on quick shifter pro for it, again can this be retro fitted?

Cheers
Mark

There are plenty of GSs about, look for one that already has the kit you want, it will be easier and cheaper

also , for info, the earliest models had a lighter flywheel and no steering damper

Cheers, it’s the cost that’s making me look at this one. Whats the lighter flywheel issue?

Not sure about the wonderwheel, but unless you're installing the BMW NAV you don't need it. All the menu options are accessed by what's on the switchgear already.

You can't retrofit a BMW quickshifter, but there aftermarket options which can be added (translogic is an option, IIRC)

As per...
The quickshifter can be retrofitted as it is supplied by the dove from above as a pack but requires the intervention of the mothership to program,
The Wonderwheel is an unlikely retrofit with a full left bar arrangements, and as DJ123 says why would you want it unless you have a Nav 4/5/6 ?

No issue with a lighter flywheel, only that it can be easier to stall. But on the upside it revs up nice and quick! (Mine's a 2013 TE)

Sounds good guys, many thanks.

Probably better to have less toys, it’s not got ESA either. Not that I’ve ever had any problems with it and nothing that can’t be sorted. It’s not that nice cosmetically but that can be tidied up over the winter.

BMW quickshift is a retrofit option, as is ABS pro, & Hill hold

2014 model year for QS. Also came with 1kg heavier Flywheel and Steering Damper. It will cost a fair bit to retro fit. Better to look for a 2013 TE.

2013 bikes doesn’t have the loom for the quickshifter, you can retro fit one, not oe. i fitted translogic quickshifter to lots of early bikes and 2013 models and wrote the instructions for translogic.

The wheel on the grip can be replaced for a non wheel grip assembly from bmw, i also swopped this part out on several wc bikes.

What bike & what year ? month of manf is best

2013, June/06 IIRC.

Asked the dealer directly, and its not available that early. I'm assuming there is something updates for those after 13 with them fitted.

Yes its just a plug on box over the lever and some coding

Crikey. That's a real poverty spec LC. Have you checked if it's a UK bike?

No i think it was when you wern't forced to get options that you didnt need

Now if you look, all the normal stuff is linked to packs of options, so to get B, you have to take A .Whether or not you need A

2013 was a one off year build and the bike was redesigned ground up for 14 on. Many parts are not interchangeable inc many accessories too. The 13 bike had so many glitches that BMW had no option to bite the bullet and redesign. Best look at later MY 14 model and make sure it’s not late registration 13 bike. Good luck but literally so many great bikes out there.

This is the first time I've ever heard this mentioned

Heavier flywheel from the 2014 GSA & the addition of a steering damper ... What else?

Which accessories are not interchangeable?

I believe the crash bars fitted differently at the front and BMW did a partial update on the 13 model where I’ve seen a list somewhere, but can’t remember what they were. A friend of mine had so much problem with his 13 model and clutches that BMW agreed to exchange it in 2014, and for whatever reason he couldn’t keep some of his accessories and BMW replaced those FOC. I’ll ask him for more information when he’s back from travelling route 66.
