2014 1200gs rear brake failure

Anyone out there who can advise on this much appreciated.
2014 1200gs lc complete rear brake failure twice left with bmw motorrad and still complete failure after only a few miles I'm lead to believe its the abs module that's at fault , but would like to here if anyone else has had the same issue as its a 1600 quid fix .

Get a second hand one from eBay and then you can take it into BMW to be coded to the bike. About £120 for the part and £72 for the coding. It took me a couple hours or so to swap it over.

Hi, I’m replacing my ABS with a second hand, when you did yours could you ride the bike before BMW coded to the bike.
Also did you know if you can use the black electrical part of the original abs unit and swap onto the replacement one? Hope that makes sense, as I read somewhere that this element is where the coding occurs and therefore might not need to be coded as that part is still assigned to the bike??

Hi, yes you can ride the bike as normal except the abs light will be on and cruise and abs will not work.
I changed the full unit on mine as it was much newer than the old one and presumed that there would be other improvements incorporated. However, I agree that you could probably reuse the electronics/motors and it will save getting it coded.

Would one of these work to recode the ABS rather than take it to the dealer?I have one which is good for fault codes and service interval resets. I know you can code the TPMS with it. You’d need an Android device for the app and pay for the subscription.

I also use it to cycle the ABS pumps during brake fluid changes.
