You have clearly never ridden a 690 KTM - very nearly a vibe free single unlike the earlier 640/660's which were jack hammers ;)

Brand new 690 Enduro £7,799 - this is second hand but has lost of expensive extras - so could you live with a standard one with some sort of screen or do you need the extras?

I looked at the standard bike, but I think for travelling the fairing and extras would make for a very nice bike, quickly priced the bits and I don't think it can be dome to under £2,5k, which says the bike is a reasonable deal, however I've never ridden or owned a KTM so I'm a bit reluctant, if that makes any sense.

For what its worth, Unless I knew the person selling the bike I would be reluctant to hand over that amount. I realise that the extras do transform the bike into a much better overland bike. But in 4850 miles a lot of wear could be put on a bike. It does look clean and not too abused, however personally I would prefer a new standard one as a basis to start with .Then you know exactly what you are buying.

No - that makes sense. Had a 690SMR for a couple of years and loved the motor (smooth and powerful for a big single) and never gave any problems despite a few track days. Was also very good on fuel consumption so a bigger tank may not be needed for touring. On balance I would buy a new one and just stick on a screen of some sort :D
