Can anyone, who has a 2014 model confirm whether or not the 2014 model 'clonks' into first gear?

Yep, my 2014 does. The gearbox is worse than any bike I can recall owning. It seems worse after the first service too.![]()
Thanks - how many miles have you done to date?
Just coming up to 1000. My K still did it at 20,000 so I don't expect it to improve.
I should add, the first few changes of the day when the bike is cold are fine, no clonks or crunches at all. Again, my K would snick silently into 1st too at the start of a ride.

The steering damper looked nice on the one I saw yesterday...............plus black larger rear brake pedal and new switchgear, with different logos too![]()

Why's it got a steering damper

Because the 12RT WC has a steering damper and it simplifies production to make all the forks the same for GS and RT for 2014, perhaps
I thought the steering damper, made the 2014 GS's look more purposeful, compared to the s/hand 2013 12GS WC, in the showroom

Nope your wrong, its there to slow down the inevitable tank slapper![]()

Any Bike with a wet clutch will clonk into first, some hasrher than others but they all do it. next time your at a bike meet watch and you will see plenty. My Harley felt like it was trying to rip the wheel out off.
In comparrison to other bikes ive had my WC is pretty good, there is no point in conparing the oil head and WC as they are completly different systems.

Well, after almost 10,000 kms, I have managed to avoid even a hint, a sniff of the inevitable.
Almost all the bikes I happen to move off with at green lights clonk into 1st, regardless of brands and models. If not all.Any Bike with a wet clutch will clonk into first, some hasrher than others but they all do it. next time your at a bike meet watch and you will see plenty.
