Not sure if anyone from BMW monitors the forum, but if so how about listing our gripes with the new RT?

Don't get me wrong, its fantastic - but nothing's perfect, so here goes.

I'd like to see the fuel cap integrated into the central locking.
If we don't have the radio fitted, give us a second storage box on the right of the tank.
Having no facility to adjust the handlebars is frustrating.

But the biggest one by far is that I think its a major oversight to not have a locking SatNav mount.

Agree about the extra storage instead of a radio, and sat nav mount . Get rid of the central locking and quick shifter

Agreed on storage if no audio, lack of a locking SatNav mount was also a major oversight. I don't want fuel cap on Central locking, knowing my luck it would fail at most inopportune moment. I quite like the quick shifter, wouldn't overly miss it, but don't wish it gone. I need a high seat, but BMW can't tell me when they may be available... HID option?

Havent yet ridden or viewed more than once in the flesh however i am sure i read that if you adjust the screen to low it makes it impossible to remove the satnav? Might be total rubbish that statement, but i am sure i read it somewhere - maybe in bmw broschure???

Well they do say you can't please all the people all the time!
I've heard one or two people moaning about the non lockable sat nav mount. My feelings are that any lockable mount is susceptible to a big screw driver and personally I would always remove the sat nav when leaving the bike therefor the lock would be a nuisance.

1. Can you ask dealer for a second storage box even without radio at time of ordering?
2. I would like the opportunity to get a SE or LE but without the integrated Nav V mount so I can fit a decent GPS of my own.

No , that's how it is on the K1600, and it automatically drops the screen when you turn off the ignition which stops the "cupboard" which the satnav sits in opening. They have done the same with the screen on the WC RT but not fitted the sat nav internally.

Another minor point.

The horn appears to work via the ECU, not via a relay straight off the handlebar button. This causes a short but noticeable delay before it switches on and another delay before it switches off.

When overtaking a line of traffic I sometimes give a quick beep-beep-beep to let them know I'm coming and its not unusual for the sound to be partly out of phase with me pressing the button, which feels weird. Ferchrissakes connect it straight to the handlebar button, the bloody horn doesn't need to be under ECU control.

......................and breathe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

But, bringing out a new model with a few 'flaws' is always the way these days. So in 6 months or so they can 'update' the product thereby making it desirable again for those who must have the latest incarnation.

But, for those of us who wait till the 'new' model has been out for a while and 'updated' it saves us a few quid. Simples.

2000 miles in, and i'm loving my LE with all the toys.

The only things i wish it had are:

1. LED/HiD headlights
2. lockable Satnav
3. adjustable handlebars

Also the bars can get a bit buzzy at circa 95-100mph, which feels more like IL4 than a Boxer (this might smooth out with more miles)..

However, i still think its an amazing bit of kit..:bow

+1

I've used all kinds of screws and locks on mine and eventually concluded that the best option is the one that makes the satnav secure whilst riding but easy to remove when off the bike...

I wouldn't risk leaving the SatNav on the bike, unattended, when parked for any length of time regardless. However, it would be good to have it somewhat secured to avoid/limit opportunistic manual (non tool assisted) removal by a third party when leaving it very briefly, such as when paying for fuel etc. Perhaps a locking mechanism which arms with central locking or when enabling steering lock??

Addendum....A decent rear ESA shock would be nice. But i don't really want to wait until 2015 for it though...

And it should come with a free scooter to use when the fucking RT is sat in the garage and grounded by a world-wide ban on riding due to imminent failure !
