2014 RT's GROUNDED! DO NOT RIDE!

Mine was picked up today by a rescue truck from BMW assist. They offered a hire car which I don't need but my dealer had little information on parts availability or how long things will take. I hope it's not too long. I would love to be party to the discussions between BMW and their suspension supplier!

What hire car did they offer? I'd have taken it anyway!:P

This is just appalling, I ride an 1150 but I feel the bad press that these newer products generate is having an adverse effect on the residual value of my far superior machine. I will be lucky to get £28 for it and it's all the fault of the new shit.

I echo your thoughts, brother :)

Lets both be lucky... I'll give £30 for it.... :rolllaugh:rolllaugh

Off loaded mine a month back, unusual for me to have such good timing :thumb

Maybe they think it's going to "buckaroo" you into the hedge backing ?
Can't imagine the dealers will want them in all at once as they will have no where to put them all.

Just watched a attende of the D-Day tour in Normandy have his R1200RT collected for return to BMW uk bike was perfectly servicable hope not a overea tion 500 bikes affected apparently.

Don't want mine collecting yet thanks!

Happy to have my RT in the garage here at home, until BMW have a solution and my dealer has the parts in stock, as apposed to having it collected and it being shuffled around the the dealership store / workshop.

Let's hope the BMW manager who signed off the suspension parts suffers the same fate as the pig.

ESA

The ESA unit is made in Europe.
2 bikes in 8000 have had problems but no accident caused.
The manufacture changed parts without telling BMW.
GSA GS units are made by a different Co.
BMW have taken this measure as a safety issue I doubt any other would do this.

So 8000 units need replacing. Could take months. I'm seriously considering rejecting mine. The only thing stopping me is the fact that it's such a cracking bike.

Before Wapping sees my last post I should add that maybe the fact that it's cracking is a good reason to reject it.
