2014 RT's GROUNDED! DO NOT RIDE!

If you had a R12RT, would you really take a F700GS as a loaner................get real:rolleyes:
I apologise, I must bow to your far superior knowledge on this matter and get real. :bow

No, wait a minute, I actually do know of someone who has taken a 700GS as a loner whilst his RT is being sorted, he found the GS was too tall for him. I'm sure he'll not be the only one. Whilst my bike was being serviced last week I was discussing this issue with the staff and whilst most of the loaners may have been r1200GSs, there has also been several other models issued, but then what do they know. :nenau

I was at Bahnstormers in Maidenhead a few weeks back and they were discounting brand new GS TE's with immediate delivery

Just had a mate been quoted £5k to change from his 4000 mile old June 2013 GS TE to a new TE spec GSA. Dealer said the RT loan bike situation was and would have an effect on used GS prices

Like I said.... I'm unaffected by it all as I don't own one

That sounds a lot to me after only a year's ownership.

+1

Thats some heavy depreciation, £5k in only one year.
mind you, the dealer will take the bike for £9k PX, then re-sell it for £11k.

£5k isn't the depreciation, that's the cost to change from a 2013 GS to a 2014 GSA.

Since the GSA is approx. £1500 more than the GS then 'depreciation' is approx. £3500

but there must have been a price rise of approx £400 - £500

even so a lot of money

edit just seen post above

His TE spec GS was a little over £14200 when new as it has spoked wheels which I believe at the time was a £355 cost option?

Still a whole chunk of money to drop when this discussion happened on the day when he'd just paid £190 for the (6k) service. I suppose that's the price you have to pay if you 'upgrade' in the first year of ownership

The same spec GS TE as his today is £14435 whereas the GSA TE is £15350

I did say all along that he should have waited to ride them both back to back but the need to own a new bike gave him temporary deafness

Took everything back to the dealers today, loaner, top box and panniers, Nav5. Felt bloody weird driving away from the dealership having so recently taken delivery of our new bike! Just hope they refund our £16.5k quickly so we can get something else sorted and put this mess behind us.

While we were there, the sales guy showed us the rod that's gonna be put into our (ex) bike to replace the shock unit, so the bike can be moved around while the shock is sent back to Slovakia (or somewhere in E. Europe, wasn't really listening that hard) to join the mountain of other suspension units that are being re-jigged. So it looks like the process is moving on....

Anyway, good luck to everyone that's hanging on to get their bike back. So endith our brief revisit to the wonderful world of BMW

Let us know how long it takes to get the refund, I've heard that it can take 6 - 8 weeks!

Has anybody who opted for the buyback heard back from BMW? I submitted docs almost 3 weeks ago, and not a word. Even worse is I called BMW and they said check would be issued TWO MONTHS after buyback deal is 'finalized'. Looks like I'll get my money back at the end of the year. :blast :blast :blast

:eek::eek::eek: Now that is naughty.:rob

The people I really feel really sorry for are the guys who currently own WC GS's who are going to see the bike's residual value plummet like a stone when BMW UK release the 500ish used loan bikes in to the UK market place :blast
Not all GSs. I met a guy this week with a stunning new K16GT SE , asked him if he'd just bought and he explained how it was on indefinite loan due to the RT issue. I was very impressed with both the bike and also how well BMW are looking after their customers. Oh and that six cylinder sounded great:thumb2

Tour de York

Is that a 2014 RT I'm seeing in the tour de yorkshire ?
If so.. How come?

Having heard nothing from BMW UK regarding delivery of my new RT I cancelled my order on Friday.
Stuff it!

I was due to part ex my 2012 RT the same week as the recall so not really affected like most,
Simon at Alan Jefferies has kept me up to date as best he can, I'm going ahead with the part ex as soon as the bike is ready, Been to look at it a couple of times ( don't know why) and it just makes me want it more
