2014 RT's GROUNDED! DO NOT RIDE!

Pushed my 2014 RT out of the garage today, gave it a quick wash and then pushed it back in again.....checked tyre wear.....it's OK

And as for fuel consumption, I reckon my tank of fuel will last about 3 months! Aren't 2014 RT's brilliant?

Rt recall

Surely anyone rejecting their bike and opting for a refund would be expecting their dealer to make the refund . I bought mine from a dealership not Bmw .Perhaps Bmw will not refund the dealership for 2 months , but your contract is with the dealer not Bmw . If opting for a refund you should receive this within a reasonable time ,8 weeks is not reasonable.Take a look on the R1200RT recall page on Facebook .If true the R1200 GS recall is next .

K1600GTLE on way

Well sorry guys but I cancelled my RT order the other week, getting a good deal on a K1600 GTLE, Iam getting it for the same price as the RT with 1st service thrown in free

The story is taken from an official Bmw magazine in Italy , allegedly . It states that 2013 bikes are at risk from a faulty seal on the gear box/ final drive which may lead to oil spillage on the rear tyre .

That recall is already being done here in the UK, my mate had his 2013 bike done 4 wks ago when he had it serviced.

I remember a mate of mine back in 2001 who had a GS1150, same thing happened to him whilst on holiday in Portugal, was riding along when seal gave way and he lost all his oil on the road. So nothings changed in last 12 years then ?

Really:D

Sensible choice, in light of the current debacle on this RT model and the ride variance on some people's WC GSA:blast

Basic bike and then get some real, decent suspension from a 1st world suspension maker

Ah, the benefit of hindsight!

Well, the Germans may be shite at ordering upto spec rear ESA units but their football team is shit hot!

What exactly were you expecting ???? Its a failing Shock that someone else supplied

BUT they had the "Sense" to halt use of the bikes and possibly prevent deaths

You got a loaner and your bike is being fixed properly ???

Be glad you are not down the road with blood pissing out of you because of a broken shock!

What about the depreciation on the dealer's loaner?

Try reading the rest of the thread!

As far as the end user is concerned, it is BMW who suppled the shock, who supplied it to them is of no concern and has no bearing (or in this case no rod).

No complaints about the action that BMW have taken about the "Do Not Ride" notice, if they hadn't done so and someone had an accident then they would be looking at a greater payout than £500!

Loaner bike has not bearing on the depreciation, which is what I wrote to them about.

Ok, I'll put it another way, your RT would have depreciated more had it now had the mileage on it that you've actually put on the loaner ....

Or does mileage has no effect on depreciation?
