That's fighting talk! I have no connection with BMW or indeed any other bike manufacturer. However should anyone high up in such a body be following this tread I would be more than happy to run one of your bikes here in Austria. My opinions though, remain my own.

I got the call at 16:30, Thursday pm to stop riding. I laughed and said 'do you know what Im doing on Saturday?'. The response being 'oh, you're not going away on it are you?'. Granted it was a bit of a faff (my dealer was 80 miles away) but 25 hours later I was fully insured on their policy to take the 14 plate K16 they had just delivered to me to Spain. Since then I basically forced them to take the K16 back, have more than 60% off a new street guard suit and a new K16 on order. I could still have had the loaner K and the above to be fair.
It seems that if you can't use the bike then you have a replacement. Yes I know the frustration. If you don't trust the RT in the end then you can have a refund or a credit (in the UK - just speak nicely to the dealer). In the meantime you have an alternative to ride that the dealer will be keen to make sure suits (at the end of the day they will be claiming back off the mothership).
In so many areas of life Ive seen others shout and scream about a problem. Sometimes in a public place it sorts them out quickly. Ive lost count of how many times Ive quietly had a word with a company about making things good without being greedy though. Ive lost count of how many times Ive been sorted out, to greater satisfaction than folks that get lairy. Are we in a situation where we all deserve to all be on Jeremy Kyle bleating about what someone said on Facebook? Its easy to sit in the sitting room and whine, slowly stewing about your own mess. If you aren't happy and GENUINELY need this sorted then go sit in front of your dealer. Have a coffee and be realistic about how bad your life really is as a result of this.
When all the fuss has died down I'll be placing an order for a new RT. My 1100RT is simply fabulous and I suspect that the new one is even better. Unfortunately it may be some time before I can arrange a test ride.
With regard to the GS loaner bikes, and I've owned a GS, it's a world away from the riding experience of an RT. Not to say that the GS isn't fantastic, but the RT is just a completely different way to travel.
My other BM, an R1200R, is my main "go everywhere" bike and, being almost 3 years, old I can get European breakdown cover easily. It's another really great bike but sometimes I prefer a limo to cover the big trips. Everyone knows that the RT is the touring benchmark and I'm confident that the long term future for the bike is more positive.
Genuinely feel bad for those of you who have been affected by the recall as you've lost out on a great summer.

You asked the question, quoting my statement of fact that we had two people here on loan bikes and that they knew of others. How such a statement led to the question only you can answer. One possible interpretation was that you were doubting my word on this. Some people, although I am not one of them, might regard this as insulting and be moved to violence. Therefore the use of the phrase "fighting talk" was to indicate a level of displeasure with the question in that context, that is by quoting my statement of fact and appearing to question my integrity.

Well as of tomorrow i'm away for the summer touring Europe with my sixteen year old daughter, were ridding a K1600 GLT loan bike which my dealer kindly sorted for me....Will pick up this thread on my return when I hope all the RT's, if not fixed, are well on the way to being fixed and as a result everyone (well the majority) will be much happier!

If he didn't know better he probably thought "we had two people here on loan bikes" makes you sound like a Dealer: I thought that, intially. If you point out that you run a biker hotel (yes I know it says so on your posts) then all becomes clear(er).
Now, can we hear more from actual RT owners about what is happening?

For those that wanted to know about the refund process:
1 week down, still waiting. No indication from dealer as to how long it's going to take, despite spending much of Friday on the phone to them. Spoke with the most unhelpful twat ever from Cooper's Sunderland finance dept, who insisted that I had to speak with the folks from the Tunbridge Wells branch. The salesman at Tunbridge Wells then did a good job of trying to get information, finally phoning back at 6.30pm to say that the payment had not yet been processed. So at least I know not to keep checking the bank balance in hope
On a different but related note and, FWIW, I would heartily recommend people steer clear of MCE. Policy cost was just over £200 for cover starting end May, refund for cancelled policy...£60. Not worth even asking if they'll change the cover over, having read comments on other forums it'll cost more than the original policy

Thankfully, as my new (old shape) RT costs somewhat <£15k, I can now get it insured via a decent insurance company, LV....whos only bugbear is the somewhat business limiting fact that they don't insure bikes that cost >£15k As new bike prices creep ever upwards, they may have to review that policy

I'm afraid I have to agree about Coopers, I ride from East Kent to LIND in Norwich to service and get parts for my RT.
Also MCE don't cover any accessories and basically seem to try and wriggle pit of anything. I won't ever use them again either.
Also sent a note to Dealer principle at LIND saying when fuss dies down, I'll have a new RT, love my 2013 but the new one is fab, and just right for me.

I would be looking at the general condition of the bike, scratches, rust etc. Colour would come into it and specification. I am going to assume that you want me to answer if everything else is equal with same scratches etc.
If the bike was less than one year old I might pay a small premium (£100 say) for the 600 mile bike. If older than 1 year then I would go for the 3000 mile bike as I don’t like the idea of a bike sitting doing nothing and it will have been run in and tyres should not have been potentially damaged for siting in the one place.
