I ride through the winter on salty roads, but I either wash after each ride if I have time, or make sure I protect the bike with FS365, ACF50 etc.

P.S. my first 1200 I kept for 5 years and put nearly 50,000 miles on it and road it through 4 winters.

My one and only new GS, a 1200GSA arrived in the crate with the pannier frames already showing some rust !!! Unbelievable !

21 years for my R1150GS, 105,000 miles & 9 years for my R1200GSA, 49,000 miles, no rust on either, go figure!
