2016 triple black?

Sent the dealer an email whilst in Scotti land

Hi Andy,

Sorry for the delay in replying, however I have been away for a few days.

That paint finish definitely does not look up to standard, it looks to me like a very soft lacquer that is causing the scratches. I have shown the photo to Steve, who would like you to drop the bike in when you are back from Scotland so we can send them through to BMW UK, who will look at the case further.

Kind regards,

Fair play to em, see what they say at the weekend

That's encouraging.:thumb

They'll sort it.;)

Why are the lower fork sections not black too? They are on my TB GSA TC. I think they look better being all black!

Ok, here you go.

Essentials:

Nav V
Mudsling
Fender extender
Crud catcher (although you don't really need this if you get the fender extender)
Rad Guards
Side stand enlarger
Helicopter tape on the centre stand

Aesthetics:

Tinted screen
Cymarc black deflector (goes under the screen)
Black Akra
Paint the rad covers & cylinder covers black (speak to TunnerUK)

Other additions, depending on budget/ comfort:

Akra headers
Hilltop remap :hide:D
Bar risers
BMW lowered footpegs

Luggage:

Wunderlich handlebar bag
GSA Top box & rack (looks much better than the vario
An assortment of Kreiga bags (I attach these to the topbox, as I don't like panniers, and never go away for long enough to need them)

I think that's it, but will let you know if I think of other ways you can spend your money!:D

Thanks for posting all that, very helpful

Hi Khulu
I think you may be looking at Mark Hooten's pics . As far as i can see its not a triple black ( doesn't have the wire wheels) .
I think the forks are black on the triple black.

Any news?

:roll
I just ordered the triple black - does anyone know if it comes with the new dynamic break light?

Dynamic break light? Is that a bit like the warning system in VW's that detects when you are tired at the wheel/handlebars advising you to pull over & have a cuppa?

Sorry, couldnt resist;)

Hi chaps,
My first post on here so be easy on me. I pick up my new triple black in 2 wks. After reading this thread, I have a few questions for you. At only 5 ft 7, I read on here the new triple black is 20mm higher than the standard version. I have spec'd it as a low factory option (£175) to make it sit at 800mm. Do I need to start panicking ? Also, I read some of you guys have the top box thrown in with the deal whilst I've had to pay almost £500 for mine. Is this dealer specific ? I have the sat nav thrown in but not the top box. This is my 1st Beemer so any advice on this these bikes would be most welcome. Thank you.

Hi Dave
Welcome to the nut house

Don't worry seat hight is the same as all other GS LC's, the top box deal seams to be a bit patchy but that said I got sat nav (on offer) they would throw in top box when pressed but got them to throw in soft bag and first service instead.

Enjoy it get to know it then start adding, get some protection on the tank Asaph, the black scratches easy.

Well one week old and 2k on the clock, bikes bedded in great, word of caution to anyone buying a TB get some pads or venture shield on the tank now, paints thin as fook, especially on the sides. Apart from that hell of a good looking bike.

In my experience, black paint always seems soft and suffers from microscratches. Lighter colours are much less susceptible to this. It's one of the reasons why I bought a white GS LC :thumby:

the galv exhaust has to go on the LC..as does that car silencer type monstrosity underneath the XR:blast

On the XR i agree in principle but the stock exhaust does sound very good and i dislike the look of the Akra.
I am waiting to see what Yoshimura or termignoni produce

You will be fine. I am 5ft7" and I was on the GSA with lowered option, seat in the low position and my feet were flat on the ground. The GSA is higher than the standard GS so I would assume the triple black would be the same as the GSA. So in a nut shell the triple black lowered and seat in the low position your feet will be flat on the ground.

As for feeling hard done by for not getting a top box.....well in Ireland you get nothing thrown in and I mean nothing, not even a slight discount on the bike! Also if you go for the finance option it's 10%, a lot higher than the UK's 2.9%! The problem in Ireland is there are only 2 Motorrad dealers, one in Dublin and one in Cork. With BMW being one of the best selling bikes with only two dealers it's a case of like it or lump it!

Sven

Had 3 black BMW's but the new TB paint is by far softer than the old one's, venture shield tank kit from day one is the answer.

Besides blacks always been the faster colour
