Hi. See if you can get the VIN number and check with the VIN checker on here. I've recently done the same and it works perfectly. Will give you all build and spec info.
If you can see the bike it's easy to find out with the ignition on.
It should have the D-ESA, hill start and improved gearbox.
I can't remember if the facelift to the plastics came in on 16 or 17 bike but it will have those as well.

Thanks for the replies. The bike is some distance away from me. The seller says it has self levelling suspension but his English isn't so good and he could think I mean if it has ESA.
Is the switch gear different from the non levelling models? Or any cosmetic changes?
It comes with 3 vario boxes, I asked if the top box would take 2 full face lids, he said yes, but I'm sure I read it can't.

Me too.. not a chance... so wonder what else he's got wrong?

I believe it is, options on the menu should be "min, auto, max", auto being the self leveling option.

You are right, you wom't get 2 lids in a vario topbox.

Get a friend who can speak Malay to ask the quetions, if in doubt walk away.
I got him to send me a pic of the registration document, then searched the VIN number.
Although the document says October 2017, it was actually manufactured in June 2016.
I told the dealer this and he just said so? I pointed out that he had said it had all features like updated suspension and gearbox but in fact it did not.
No reply. So it really pays to do your homework. Everything he told me was a lie.

Euro4 bikes have reflectors on front forks (unless owners have taken them off, like I did)
Also Euro4 have OBDC Ports, but those are hidden behind the battery cover
A photograph of the bike would have given the game away and confirmed it wasn't a 2017 model year
They do look quite different but in fairness to your lying seller, even BMW dealers don't know a 2016 from a 2017 as is shown in the two links below

Correct, after researching I also noticed a distinct difference in the side panel at the rank. The tank shape is different as is the front of the beak.

If it's June 2016 it's definitely a pre Euro 4 and hence not a 2017 model. Euro 4 (2017/1) models were built from August. The fork reflectors, as stated, are the immediate give away. The bikes from then have a revised gearbox/final drive and lean angle ABS plus a few other goodies which makes it, to my mind, definitely worth seeking out.

I believe they have a thin blue line running around the rev counter face too. mine has anyway and mine is a euro 4.
mine has the ABS lean sensor but not the dynamic brake light that flashes when jamming the brakes on and putting hazards on. which I thought mine would do with the modded ABS sensor

They do have that line on the slightly revised, tiny bit clearer speedo. Are you sure you don't have the dynamic brake light? The hazards don't come on automatically without some serious retardation, so you may just not have triggered them. Mine has done it just once in the 3 years I've had it - at a red filter light I'd not seen til late as it was behind a bus. A quite an impressive stop! Have you tried running your VIN through the spec checker?
