Hi guys

Just picked up a nee GS Rallye Sport with keyless ignition.

Tried to put the steering lock on and found that it will only lock if the bar is pulled fully left.

On my TB 15 plate it locked either direction.

Is this a mod or do I have mi first glitch?

Thanks

It only locks to the left.

Previous thread on it:

That answers that then, thanks Daren.

Didn't find that thread when I searched.

Wonder why the change?

yep just locks on the left but not fully left either ..its a degree or to in from full lock or the motor just keeps spinning !

Don't understand the reason for the change meself?
My 2017 Adv locks both ways so maybe BMW are saving on making holes.

Wunderlich fell foul of the changes that BMW did that they never did yet apparently did if you know what I mean...

Cost Nippy's a few quid and a number of arguments with Wunderlich HQ where their "Senior Technician" was adamant their kit fitted the 2016 perfectly.

It didn't and right up until they received pics and video they stated it did.

I have a 2017 GSA and it locks either direction.

Manual reference

Manual says it locks either way, recommends turning left

Manual for the 2017 GSA (0A51) says left only. (Dealer highlighted the change when delivering the bike).

I think there making the change over multiple models. My April 2017 keyless RS locks either way. My wife's May model doesn't.

I looked and the metal welded on the front of the headstock is different. It goes further around to the right. When you try and engage the lock you see it hit this extra piece of metal and bounce back. It's rather annoying as the shed is a tight squeeze and parking was easier with the bars to the right.

Putting together what you read on here, I think the single side steering lock is fitted to the rusty bikes with the fall-off forks. The others are unaffected.
