So,allegedly it's all change for 2017.

The 1050 Adventure becomes the 1090 with about 125bhp.

The 1190R and S are dropped !!!

The current 1290 Super Adventure becomes the 1290 Adventure T.
Supposedly same colour (white) but with new screen and all new digi dash.

Then there are 2 new models :

The 1290 Adventure R in orange/white with 21/18 spoked wheels and TKC rubber.

And finally the 1290 Adventure S with 19/17 cast wheels and a smaller 23 litre tank.

I'm hoping the 1290R keeps the 30 litre tank as on the T.May well have to get one if that's the case.

Doesn't make sense for the 1050. It is what it is because it is learner legal in the EU. It is no longer legal if it gets those HP figures therefor it's a pointless bike!

Maybe they looked at how many actually bought them as 'learner legal' bikes and decided it pointless to continue ?
An interesting move for KTM. Interested to see the 1290 AdvR

Only makes sense. A whole new load of emission rules next year so why homologate an 1190 and 1290 engine. Personally I thought it was always on the cards since the SA came out. It also competes nicely with the BMW range and betters it. Maybe the R should have options like you can have it with small or big tank. A lot of people wouldn't want the big tank but some also would on a hard core off road model that the R is.

Still confused with the 1050. It hasn't sold well and there is an 850 coming so it's not really a good fit with the range.

Perhaps the will be some cheap 2016 1290SA's around this winter.....

I said months ago that an R version of the 1290SA was coming, and nobody believed me.

I wonder if bm will add anything new to there stable, to compete with ktm !

They need to add quite a lot to compete. Well down on power to just about everyone and they don't have an HP Enduro anymore which I guess was the closest to the R.

Me and some friends were talking about this a few days ago. Used to be on a trip up north most of what you saw were gs/a and a few tourers and sports bikes. A couple of weeks ago when we went up there were hardly any. Most of them were Triumph with a smattering of other big adventure bikes the GS included. The k1600 seems to be doing quite well but other than that bmw seems to be loosing market share to everyone as far as Adventure bikes are concerned.

That'll all change next year.:augie

Ya think? I don't and remember everyone else is changing range next year as well because of the new regs. I think bmw has spent too long screwing over their customers with sub par bikes. They maybe invented the class but they aren't innovating or leading it anymore.
