2017 KTM Adventure Range.

Ya think? I don't and remember everyone else is changing range next year as well because of the new regs. I think bmw has spent too long screwing over their customers with sub par bikes. They maybe invented the class but they aren't innovating or leading it anymore.

They don't need to lead it because people like Nutty and Engineer will buy their sub-standard shit regardless !!

When another manufacturer actually makes a bike that is good enough to tempt me away from BMW, the money is there.;)

I haven't said anything though.

You haven't? That's alright then neither have I :thumby:

And yet, 2 adv bike based magazine articles I read recently whilst having time to kill on a long ferry crossing came to the conclusion that despite not having the outright firepower of some of the bikes available at the moment the GSA is still the one that does most things well making it a great all rounder, I don't find having "only" 125 bhp too much of a handicap when riding in the company of KTM's, my own bike is up for change next year and having test ridden some of my bikes competitors I realise it's a hard package to beat, the Audi multistrada Enduro is very tempting though ;)

Agreed but I think the Nutty Engineer types are lessening at quite a rate.

Type?

If I had the problems some have had with their bikes, trust me, I'd jump ship. But I haven't, hence why nothing else even tempts me.;)

Tell me, other than bhp, what else can the 1290SA offer me that the GSA can't?

The only thing you 'get' has a blue and white propeller on the tank

Why's that then.
Thought Chris had a KTM 950 Adventure.

Arsey. You just try and pull everyone's chain.

Would like to see a KTM 1290R SA with orange frame.
However, by the time you fit decent luggage and akro plus a few mods.
How much is it going to cost me? £18,500?

Not going to pay that out in cash.
Don't do finance any more.
So, going to have to go without.

All I am saying is that their presence on the road is vastly diminished. They are no longer everywhere like they used to be. Maybe they are a great package when they are going/not corroding before everyone's eyes.

Anyway this thread isn't about bmw and what they are up to its about KTM and what they are up to.

Excitement. The sheer pleasure of actually riding a bike that wants to be ridden instead of some mundane a to b transport.

I don't know you but would it be fair to say you always have new bikes? If so it would be an utter disgrace if you had much trouble.

Good point, well made. Blame being up for over 24 hours. Thought it was Nutty, not Tunner that replied !!

Not pulling chains , simply posting up info straight from my dealer as he said he needed to know which 1290 I wanted as there was now a choice of three !!

I have two KTMs and love the character of them. Had the 390Duke for nine months, always ride it hard, sometimes on longer journeys and always enjoy riding it. 690Enduro R arrived last week but not had chance to ride it yet but think it'll be great fun on the green lanes.

If you ride an XR properly, and don't find it exciting, you may as well stop riding.

I can see trouble ahead.... Wonder if she will notice.....

My personal experience is it's always going it's never let me down, there is zero corrosion and it's not needed any attention other than routine servicing in nearly 3 years, what's your personal experience?

I was responding to the point you made about BMW's

Ha ha, I was wondering the same thing.............. (about what's in my garage, not yours) :D

After all my banging on about 'the only thing that would make me change my 1190R would be if they put the full fat SD 1290 lump in it' I now find myself in the position that they may have actually done it (or something close) Money and mouth come to mind!

However...............having ridden one of the French hippie's SD again recently and following comments from the other hippies on the trip that rode mine and the SD back to back I'm now not so sure........................

Anyway, all fun, wishful thinking, mines only a baby at two years old so I ain't changing her any time soon :)

Andres

PS Twizz..........If they really are dropping the 1190R you should be able to get some good deals on a 2016 model :green gri

Indeed my thoughts exactly - I don't follow the new is best purchasing model and often buy the "run out" model at a good discount ( Cars mainly)

Trevor Pope (a few weeks back) had three 1290 SA' and an 1190R sat in the showroom alongside a 2015 MY 1190S - this winter should see some big old discounts flopping about I reckon...i'll wait till a Tuesday, 3PM late January then strike...
