Ive only managed about 8k miles on my buke in the first year, but i feel it could do with raising at the front.

I have the back of the seat fully down, and the front rider on H, bit its causing me to feel like Im tipped forward. I am 6 5" with LONG legs and have tried risers bar and lowered pegs. I might get a second hand seat and have it re-worked by Tony Archer, but does anyone know of seat bobbins that raise ( plenty that lower) the front.

I put an inclineometer on the front of the seat and its at 5degrees, I added some washers and got the riser up, but thats only 1 degree higher. Really dont want to spend on a commercial seat (Sergent etc).

Any ideas ?

6ft5" with legs...interesting, don't think anyone expected that to be without legs, sorry, could not resist...hope you get sorted ;-)

Oh dear, now there was an article on naughty folk like you on the news today, I should ignore you, and er... take a screenshot, and er...Call my mummy, and er... oh, yes, not walk over the bridge where you folk live.

Like you I have the same problem which I’ve found on all my GS from the 1150 onwards. As you suggest get the seat built up at the front and heightened by 3mm with better foam padding. The original sinks too much under weight too. I’ve used Tony before too. That combined with up and back risers as the up only risers still pull you forward. Good luck.

The bobbins that lower the front can be turned upside down to in effect raise the front of the seat. I did it with the nippy Norman ones and I also removed the rubbers from the back to get the max tilt backwards.

The NN ones are off centre so that might be a way to go if they can be rolled to make them taller...The Wunderlich site in US seems to say they can be made 10mm taller or lower.

Thanks Garry,

I see there is a Rallye Seat, does anyone know if that is that worse on the longer rides for comfort ?

Care, there are two types, std is about 20-25mm higher than a standard stock seat, i was surprised at how high it was, it is however narrower, I had to cut mine down and re- shape it a bit, to be more like the low version, but then I am only 5’11”. it is a bit plank like in profile, great when going round the lanes but I do use a comfort seat on high for touring

If you cannot get the seat nose high enough with the standard front bobbins buy a used front bracket (just the alloy bit that flips over and mounts the rubbers) from the equivalent model r1200/1250 rt .

When fitted on the high setting it raises the nose of the seat to give a flatter profile.

Been using mine on both my current and last gsa lc for 5 years and it cost £10 off ebay.

Re the one piece Rallye seat I have one for everyday use and as standard it was worse for sliding you forward onto the nose of the tank, got mine reprofiled at Saddlecraft ......... do a forum search and there are posetd pictures
