2018 KTM 790 Adventure

I suspect your 6'2" will struggle to fit the 790. The 'R' possibly. But it's a small adventure bike and probably a bike that won't work for you. I'm 5'9" and sat/stood on the R lots at the shows and it seems to suit my size very well, but a ride will confirm. Horses for courses as always.

I sat on the R at the London show, and my first thought was that there was little leg room, and I only have comparatively little legs (5'10").

My second thought was why would anyone buy this over the 1090R?

When the bike was being developed and we knew scant all about it I would have answered that it was lighter and more dirt focused.

Now we know more about it the weights aren't all that different so that's shot that one out of the water. Re being more dirt focused we won't know until people start riding the things.

The 790 is certainly not as tall as the 1*90R, so there is that. I found I could near enough flat foot it. Can't do that on my 1190R.

I reckon KTM have sacrificed legroom to keep a sensible seat height.

I think you are correct

The more I read about the 790 the more I am inclined to go for a 690/701

Possibly because the 790 has an extra cylinder ! The latest 701 is better than the 2016 version , now having an extra balancer shaft but the 790 is streets ahead

The 790 is MUCH heavier
The 790 is much more expensive

I think 'streets' ahead is about what it is but not 'offroad' ahead

it does not - it was you that tried to justify the 790 over the 690/701
