The 790 motor is much smoother than the 701

Does anyone know when the first service is due ?

Ladies, may I remind you that this is the ORANGE section, not the 'pissflaps how do I mount my Hooton crud catcher, what oil do I use 1250WC' section.

We have standards, please do one's best to maintain those standards

I'll take the 690

I do like the look of the 790R and would be interested in trying but and its a BIG BUT it ain't gonna replace my 690RFR. Then of course the RFR isn't a production bike.

I've ridden a 701, the new one with the second balancer shaft. I have to admit, it was not as smooth as I'd been led to believe at all. I'm sure the 790 will be much better in that respect.

The 701 is a brilliant bike and as a lightweight Adventure bike it takes some beating the faster you go the smoother it gets but its still a single at the end of the day the 790r had better be good as I would have no hesitation going back there but probably the 2019 KTM690 enduro this time, with the new upgrades and quickshifter and lower seat I may not be the only one,

Why would you want a QS on an enduro bike?

Cards on the table; I don't really get QS's but accept lots of people like them, however, I'm genuinely interested in why you'd want one off road, what would be the advantage?

When you haven't been brought up on off road bikes anything that makes it easier ill take , why do top riders use a Rekluse clutch, why put the rear brake on a lever instead of foot pedal because some people prefer that, the least amount of things I have to worry about the better it makes me more comfortable rightly or wrongly

Ha ha, ok that's more than fair enough.

I've had a go on a bike fitted with a Rekluse and have to say it was brilliant. It did catch me out though, on a steep uphill section where I bottled it and stopped half way up. It took longer than I expected to hook up again when I pulled away again and I tumbled off as the bike rolled backwards ~ that probably says way more about me than the clutch though.........

When the salesman told me about it, in our local KTM dealers

I just laughed out loud and he couldn't fathom why one was needed either (and he rides enduro too)

When I rode off road/competitive enduros years ago, I often used clutches up/down changes. definitely not great for the gearbox, as it was far rougher than what most people would do on the road. It would be nice if you had some assistance even for reasons of mechanical sympathy.

Having said that, I've never ridden a bike with a quick shift.

That's a very fair point and yeah, I do that, just bimbling along green laning sometimes.

Being able to attempt climbs knowing i can just bang down the box without worrying about the clutch its worth every penny, on my 1290r the quick shifter is like butter both up and down and any load its amazing, whether or not the 690/790 is that good will find out soon enough

Why would you lose feedback - you know what these do right? It is not like an automatic car, it just allows you to shift gear on WOT by interrupting the ignition for a nano-second
so you do not have to close / open throttle.

There use to be a chap occasionally on this site called Richard who had an X Challenge with a reklus clutch - It was a wonderful thing but every now and then you think where's Richard, retrace your steps and find him buried deep in the undergrowth following a nudge offline leading to a handful of unwanted throttle and no quick clutch dip to save him

The honest is no. I don’t know what they do, I think I know, but I haven’t tried it so I can’t confirm.

If I don’t like I don’t use. If I do then fine.

I hope you’ve informed the bods at KTM that they are wrong ? A self-opinionated dinosaur and a salesman must know more than the young brains at Europe’s most forward-thinking motorcycle producer !!
