2018 KTM 790 Adventure

Come ON!.....One of the most disappointing videos I've ever seen :blast

Maybe I need to lower my expectation levels. Great idea to film at an MX track. More and better please.

Nothing to do with me.

Suggest you post up yours when you collect the bike

I see the press are out in Morocco testing the 790 S and R today. I await the reportsw with bated breath.

There's a lot of good stuff being posted on AdvRider by @gearheadE30 on pages 338 onwards: https://advrider.com/f/threads/ktm-790-adventure.1260491/page-338

Thanks Tim - Lots of good insight there.

Interesting in what he said about the clutch and the narrow engagement - The KTM Centre one I tried had the same very narrow engagement right at the end of the levers travel, was it the same when you rode it. I think there had been several demo rides on it between your and my ride

Asen at Bumot has received a bike so frames should be available in the next few months.
Planning to use my Xtremadas on my 790R, which I should be collecting today.

If these are the way forward then they need to realise that we DON'T WANT SHARP EDGES on the racks like they've made on the 1290 ones. Someone's going get really damaged taking a 790 off-road if they make them the same.

Yes, same experience. I just put it down to differences between bikes and something you'd get used to in a day or so.

It’s quite a tall bike, so I’m expecting the R to be tippy toe for me.
I was told the seat was on low setting. I did take it off and have a look to see how it adjusted but didn't at the time have the non-R manual. I wonder if I accidentally left it on high?

I keep asking myself whether I'm making a mistake getting the non-R 790 Adventure, but I had similar doubts when I went for the BMW F650GS twin (800cc) rather than the F800GS which was borderline for someone like me who's 'partially heighted'. The main reason there though was that the F650GS twin came with tubeless tyres and I have to say getting the 'junior model' never held me back from trying some of the harder stuff.

OK, so my high 'winter screen' and handlebar muffs weren't the most stylish!

Front tyre puncture with rocks under the bash plate and rocks to hold down the rear of the bike. I hate tubed tyres with a vengence. Although it doesn't look it, the temperature in the photo below was close to 40ºC with no shade in sight.

Rear tyre puncture. The Tenere has really deep rims and is a pain to dismount and mount the TKC80s. In the shot below I got the puncture 20 minutes after sunset so ended up sleeping overnight by the bike.

Tubeless tyre punction: By comparison, a quick 15 minute fix on the F650GS twin in the middle of Marrakech.
