Looks like an April 1st photo.

I can’t see anything any different aside from the clear plastic things at the front?

It has the WP XPLOR PRO suspension which is £4K(not that you can see that)
The back end is different and is rack-free.
It’s got a different seat, rally pegs, narrower rims,Akra as standard, different graphics.....

Hmm.. I’m happy with my R

I have wider pegs, will see how Iceland goes if different rims needed ( bearing in mind the bike is more capable than I am).

I’ve had the seat on order for months and I’m told that KTM won’t have any until september.

Yup, agreed.

Been blatting around Brittany all week on mine and it’s brilliant.

Any off road ?

Mines being shipped next week for the Iceland trip... looking forward to it.

If the suspension really is set up for rally I think a few are going to be in for a surprise when gentle trail riding :D

In reference to page 50, headlight removal...

Brilliant, Apex - thanks.
I will add that while playing in there the connector to the 12V dash outlet (lighter style) is not well attached, fell off while poking about. Be sure to check this before you re-assemble!

Next project - horn, got to get rid of the scooter horn. Had the Denali Soundbomb in my V-Strom & loved it. So far i think I've found the wire colors at the stock horn - GRN/YEL & WHT. Now if I can find those in the headlight shell I'll be able to install proper relay. Wish me luck (or show/tell me how). I see it has already been done (page 70 I think) with clever location of compressor, but little info on wiring.

Other than leaking sump & leaking left fork seal, after 1000km I'm loving this bike - it's all about the weight, low CG.

Cheers for now, Lorne

KTM design a bike around a Denali Sound Bomb!

Even the contours match the bash plate

Remove the stock peep peep and guess what, the bracket is perfect for the Denali. As far as I can see so far the stock cables work OKAY on the compressor without a fault on the dash - this doesn’t happen on a BMW!

Hello again Apex, :)
If you would be so kind as to expand on this install - re routing of wires & hose? My idea is to put relay in headshell & power compressor from acc wires under pass seat. Wot you think?

Cheers, Lorne

The horn needs a relay. It blew a fuse without. Ran wires from horn location to relay under the seat and off the battery + via a fuse. Works okay but need to investigate as it's started to sound like a single horn rather than the dual sound if you get me.

I doubt there's room for a relay behind the headlight.

I was told last week that would need to fit via relay as removal of the peep peep horn upsets the ECU.

Well I’m to make myself popular on here as I’ve just ordered a Yam 700 Ténéré. I’m not deserting KTM as I’m keeping the 690 and 1290 but the Yam is so much cheaper.

A journo mate has ridden both, gave me his completely unbiased opinion and although the 790 has the edge for say the last 5% and a lot more power he was surprised how good the Yam was.

Ok there are reasons why the Yam is cheaper but at the massive price difference I’m giving one a try. Feel free to hurl abuse my way. Not having ridden the Yam I can’t claim it’s better but I’m gonna give it a go.

Please carry on enjoying your 790’s

Good for you! Interested to see how you get on.

Watching the reviews I don't think it's hard core enough for what I'm 'trying" to do on mine. I'm dropping the bike quite a lot and it prettyuch shrugs it off. Not sure the Yam would take the abuse. Time will tell!
