Hi my new 2021 is alleged to have 5 variations for the heated grips. I understood that it was possible to select a heat setting for each of the 2 settings on the handlebar button.

Just read the manual and tried what it said but it still only offered 1 or 2.

Help an old luddite out here please. How do I get warmer but not burnt hands.

Can only be that you don't actually have a 2021 model. When you press the handlebar button the options should come up. Simply can't see how a new model would get through the prod line testing otherwise.

Hot = Defcon 1

Thermonuclear = melt your hands off Defcon 2

Easy to remember

Its the 2021 colours. It has the 2021 x headlamp. The 2021 indicators. Its probably the 1958 owner just not being bright enough.

My 2021 bike has the five settings. As said above, press the handlebar button and it brings up the heating menu on the screen, for grips and (if fitted) seat.

The handbook sounds like it's referring to the previous system of pressing the button once for level 1, twice for level 2, then three times for off.

Incidentally, even when riding in sub-zero temperatures last month I found level 2 out of 5 was enough to keep my hand swarm (with Dainese Winter gloves). Level 4 got them warm very quickly.

Thanks for the video. I tried mine again and its just like my 2019. I suspect that I needed to have ordered heated seats to get the whole selectable stuff. Perhaps grips only just gets the 2

Mine has 5 settings. 1 is meh and the other 4 are stupidly hot but may be useful for frying things when camping

Ah that could well be right, as indeed I recall from the manual that it shows the 'old' way and the 'OE' (optional extra way). That's a shame, because as well as the welcome seat heating, the OE version goes some way to overcoming the too cold or too hot situation. They probably need some work still though, as I find they take longer to build up to the heat setting, meaning that you are soon wanting to reduce from, say, 4 to 2.

(I have the heated seats).
