I know, I know, get an XT. But I like the simple fit into the cradle that comes with the bike, and with discounts available a new Nav 6 2023 version is similar price to a Zumo XT+adapter while being a bit neater. So the question is does anyone have some decent miles/hours using the latest Nav 6 version?

I'd assume some hardware changes have been introduced by this point even if it's still officially the same "Nav VI". While it's possible the core hardware design was fundamentally flawed, given it's Garmin that seems unlikely; so some component mismatch or manufacturing process glitch(es) likely to be the underlying cause of the issues experienced, and once eventually diagnosed some effort will have gone into resolving it - the reliability issues reflected badly on both BMW and Garmin. So I'm really interested in hearing from people who have been using the latest version.

Just to be clear to everyone, the OP is asking about the latest 2023 edition of the Navigator VI, not earlier iterations.

I was just having a look - appears BMW are still using Part # 77528504067 - for all iterations of NAV6? Is this correct? I had expected a new part # for the revised unit? I see Sycamore BMW are selling them on the bay...

I have just boxed up my October 22 Nav VI for replacement. This is what the ‘nice’ man at Garmin said when I spoke to him two days ago. I shall receive a new unit with a 2 year guarantee. The 2023 latest edition units have refreshed software and they have had no returns.

My Nav was periodically misbehaving and I’m convinced it was a heat/grease screen issue. However, Garmin said the misbehaving would probably get worse over time.

Hope that helps. ‘I like my wonder wheel too’.

Putting my IT geek hat on, it's entirely possible they would use the same part number even if there has been hardware tweaks by Garrmin (e.g. changed a graphics chip supplier or a cable assembly) and definitely would use the same part number if the issue was resolved by changing a manufacturing process, added a step or amended the QA tests.

I bought one from Sycamore via Ebay, June 2021, the "make life a ride" versions do have a different part number to the first generation NAV 6, I know I researched this before purchasing, however my unit FROZE (ie unresponsive) around march of this year, Sycamore were great and arranged collection IIRC of faulty unit and sent me a brand new replacement, I promptly sold it on here for the equivalent value of a new XT, went through the pain of changing the mount and setting up the XT only to find these units are not without their own problems which are well documented on this site, so much so that Im tempted to try the NAV 6 again once Im sure all the gliches are sorted.
Watching this thread with interest.

Pablo - Just to clarify (for me as well !!) I understand there's another NEW version just out. I don't know if it's shipping yet...
Appears to have more internal memory, but also supports larger SD cards?

Might be worth collecting part numbers...

I've found 2 so far:
77528355994 - this one seems to be associated with the more mysterious Ebay listings which combined with being a lower number I'm guessing is an older version

77528504067 - seen on listings describing it as the 2023 model, but also as a 2021 model, with this additional info on a Sycamore listing:
"NEW FEATURES OF VERSION 2023: - New look of the user interface - To ensure the very highest product quality, the display received a technical update"

That note does suggest some change in the hardware, although "display" in geek talk covers a range of elements that might have been changed.

Edit:

And now a 3rd: 77528504069, found here https://www.barcodelookup.com/077528355998

Before the opening post’s question gets hijacked too far, might it not be wise for the OP to:

a. Call his local BMW dealership or several, to ascertain whether the part numbers did change, to what and when, particularly in reference to the latest 2023 version of the Navigator VI.

b. Publish these numbers and tell people which specific number he is interested in.

If it transpires that the numbers did not change or if the changed numbers have no relevance to the latest 2023 version of the Navigator VI, then they can be forgotten about.

Failing that, just find someone who has actually bought the latest 2023 version and await their news. Of course they might just report that theirs hasn’t yet malfunctioned, which might (or might not) be down to the pound of butter in their fridge.

PS Just buy a secondhand Navigator V, it’s the same dimensions as the Navigator VI, if that was your secondary concern. It’s pretty reliable and not much less efficient in its operating systems.

The model serial no. I’m sending back is 77 52 8 504 067.
In smaller print it shows 30/2021 - 30/2023.

Let’s see what the new model will be which I should get in a week. I’ll update on here (y)

I've also found several EANs, though potentially these reflect different international packaging variants. The database providing those doesn't contain detailed info.

I don’t think that lot will get you very much closer to having your very simple question answered, which was:

The one I bought had a larger internal memory from the first Nav 6, was 16gb IIRC, im not aware of there being a 3rd reincarnation.

At least I now understand the discounting on BNIB Nav 6's from BMW dealers, the (apparently insanely priced TBC) "Connected Ride Navigator" is officially available 1st November.

One special Ebay discount code later, I've gone with a Zumo and an E-navXT adapter...

I promised to update this thread with a new Nav VI - just received.

Garmin customer service was excellent. Phoned and the team quickly started the process to retrieve my Nav and send a new, boxed, Nav. All I had to do was get my Nav to a UPS pick up point. Start to finish it took 5 days.

The model serial no. I sent back was 77 52 8 504 067 and the new one I received the same. However the date on the returned Nav was 30/2021 - 30/2023. The new one is 29/2023 - 29/2025 which Garmin call the refresh version.

The new unit comes with a 2 year guarantee.

The battery requires attaching and so I would have thought it should be easy to get a replacement battery - but that is the subject of another thread on UKGSER.

ok so im tempted now to give the nav6 another chance after my xt woes, what ive gleamed regards product numbers is as follows
77528504069- 2017 this was first generation
77528504067- 2021 2nd generation with increased memory 16gb
77528355749- 2023 according to Sycamore Motorrad

77528355749 Comes up as a Nav 6 with mount cradle

77528355749 without mount cradle

I think the devil is in the detail as per G&T's comment above - if Garmin have finally sorted the issues with the Nav6 it's in the run marked "29/2023 - 29/2025"
