Hi all,

My 2023 1250 gsa has shown warnings for abs failure and shock adjustment failure. Only done 4000 dry miles, anyone seen this before?

It’s still under warranty thank goodness.

That belief it or not might be a battery issue.

Did both happen at once, or have these flagged up independently over time?

Electrical gremlins (usually a bad battery, or loose connections) can cause issues to flag which don't exist.

Yes both came at the same time. Coincidentally I hadn’t had it on trickle charge for the last couple of weeks. Will check connections and give it a charge.

If these flagged up when you tried to start (and it struggled) then more than likely the battery. Its a well known issue.

If they flagged up when riding etc then I would get it to a dealer

Loads of times and it always clears after restart.

“They all do that Sir!”

I had these warnings pop up when the bike failed to start. It was indeed a duff battery.

So I’ve been out for a ride this morning and even after a reconditioning charge on the battery using my super duper CTec charger I still have all the lights on so off to the dealer tomorrow.

Question, if it is the battery will it be covered by the warranty?

Good luck negotiating that one, there’s a lot of good advice on here, but @Pukmeister and his ‘piece of shit thread’ which I can’t find, states the one battery purchase needed to avoid this issue again.

If all the lights have remained on it's not the battery

Try searching “Big Pile Of Dogshit” in the 1250 section. I’ll make it easy for you :

Instead of just struggling to start and kicking into life the 1250 has a habit of doing this. If you have the SOS button it often throws that up as a warning if the battery is on its last legs. Will be worth upgrading to a motobat or one of BMW’s special upgraded batteries (I forget the acronym).

Even after BMW came out, started my bike, left it for 20 mins, stopped it, plugged it in to a BMW charger overnight, it then threw up the same faults and failed to start. A battery change fixed all of this.
