My thanks to Sid & Ann for their amazing hospitality and looking after us all; a truly fantastic weekend.

Met some great new people & fantastic to catch up with some old faces.

Since I left Sids, I went south to Lagarde to see an old friend & had a nice meal out at Mirepoix with his family, and an impromptu hours ride out on some rather tasty D roads & rather nice views.

Continued to Meyrueis through the Parc Naturels of Haut Langudoc & Des Grands Causses & did the Millau Viaduct too.

and am now in Apt….being entertained by the hotel hosts & 10 guests; the male host, Jean Claude likes to get the karaoke machine on we’ve already had 3 guests singing . They’ve asked me as I’m the token English person….i think not .

Another week of travel, so Gorges du Verdon tomorrow, then heading north to the Cols of the Alps, Aosta Valley, Switzerland and then back into France on Monday through the Morvan & home.

Lots of love to all, and hope to see you all soon.

Thank you Sid (@Crapaud)and Ann for hosting us. Thank you to @NeilDD and others whom have helped out and to put it all together for all of us to enjoy.

It has been great to meet a bunch of new faces and be able to put names to them, as well as those whom I’ve met before such as @Bounce @leadfarmer and your lady, it was great to catch up.
@Kardecha whom I’ve met on the ferry whilst politely arguing which one of us was the first to join the que.
@Santa-2512, you’ve been fun to hang around, @Paul Young I’ve enjoyed your company on a ride out with Rob and our chat about all things camping gear @shready it been short and sweet, but looking forward to chatting a bit more next time maybe, @leedude03 and your lady, it was great to have you as a neighbour, hopefully, I wasn’t snoring to loudly (as apparently I do :nenau) @Flipfly and family, been great spend some time in your company, and listening to some tunes,
@Ex-Call Centre Chimp, nice to meet you Bill, you are a sound bloke, @Wedgy you were under my radar for the best part, short and sweet introduction, so maybe net time I’ll get to know you a bit more.

Of cause there were many others, whom I’ve not got introduced to or forgot your names/handles on these very pages. It can be overwhelming to meet so many people and to remember each and every name. My apologies for leaving you out.

Thank you to my traveling companions @Skid06 & @Stevie4scoops too, who came along and stuck around with me on my meanderings, it has been great to have you along for a ride.

Thank you to @Redboots for taking on 3 of us strangers for the night and for prepping us a dinner. It has been great to meet you too, finally. I know Doc will be jealous :D

Let’s see what next year will bring. I might even depart a little earlier and come back a bit later, as I’d like to meander around the area a bit longer, there is so much to see and do, so it be rude not to.

Till next time folks.

...well fuck me.......thought it was gonna be a dry weekend and travel days and didn't take any waterproofs or heated gear.........and guess what, 110miles to get to calais and there was thunderstorms all the way except for the last 10 miles.......never again will i forgo waterproof gear! Me and my daughter were soaked to the bone! At least it wasn't too cold - but travelling at 40mph on the peage was not fun and I was still over-taking lorries!
Get to the UK and it is bone dry..........makes a change I guess, but more importantly, home safe.
I will upload the drone pics/video's that I took of Ann/Sid's place in the other thread.

Thank you for a great weekend, Grace loved it and enjoyed meeting @Flipfly daughter! a few days is not long enough!

Well said EV and you speak for me with all of the above.

A huge thank you from me for the huge generosity shown by everyone on this trip.

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

I’d like to add my thanks to all who made this a brilliant first trip abroad on my GS. Especially to Sid, Ann and Simon (and Phil) for keeping us fed
and watered, but another mention to Bob who lead us on a ride out like none I’ve ever known. To call it ‘spirited’ would hardly do it justice, but my rear tyre tells the story…😁

I had a brilliant ride back up through France after setting my sat nav to ‘Thrilling’ routing. The kms passed a lot slower but the scenery and roads it found were spectacular. After overnights near Richelieu and Pont du Brotonne, I’m finally on board and heading for Blighty. Just 300 more miles and I’ll be home to my own bed again. I think I got caught in the same downpour as Steve and Grace, yesterday. 2hrs and it just got heavier, only stopping as I crossed the Seine and arrived at my B&B looking like a drowned rat. Thank goodness for heated towel rails.

Cant wait to do it all again so I’ll hope to see you all again next year, or sooner.

Some pics for your pleasure…

Pictures from the other thread, for those who may not have seen it

We got back home last night after our tour around Western France, I highly recommend St. Malo if you have never been, stunning town.

Gill and I would like to thank Ann and Sid for being very generous and fantastic hosts, also, many thanks to Simon for keeping us all fed and Phil for the Paella.

It was great to meet old friends and make some new friends too, this was once again the highlight of our trip and has left us both with some fond memories.

We travelled around 1,600 miles and the route was Calais (Tunnel), Chartres, Chassenon, Cahors, Ann & Sid, Royan, St. Malo (2 nights) and finally Honfleur.

Well sitting here in southern Spain listening to the constant drivel about how nice this and how lovely that….. I can honestly say it was much nicer when you all fecked off and left 😂😂😂

The pool had more room, there were drinks and food in abundance, there was peace and quiet and no bloody noisy smelly motorbikes ruining the view…..heavenly bliss!

I certainly can’t recommend the summer party, it really is a complete rabble of human kind descending upon the home of a vulnerable man with a motorcycle addiction, and his ever loving wife who has more kindness and caring than any one person should be allowed to have.
Sid quite clearly needs help as he seems to appreciate people eating and drinking him out of house and home! He also offers his hard earned workshop facilities, games room and wonderful surroundings! He should be putting his archery collection to good use and picking off these
Invaders, but instead he welcomes them and doesn’t shoot a single arrow!

Then there’s the food! Sid and Ann bring in their friend (I say that loosely because I’m not sure what kind of friend subjects another to such torture!), Simon, who dutifully dishes out meal after meal for the attendees! He’s obviously being drugged because he’s always smiley and happy, it’s gruesome to see such obvious slavery at work. Seeing poor Simon happily cooking away and being left nowt but a mere morsel of a sausage, some chicken, a burger, potato salad, salad, selection of the finest french cheeses and of course local bread….well it brought a tear to my eye, that poor man endures hell over the weekend, and all people can do is heap praise upon him, yet he stays shackled to the bbq!

I’d love to say it was great to catch up with old friends , but it’s truly spoilt by having so many new people to meet! They’re all seem so ‘nice’, it’s a pain in the arse remembering everyone’s names.

So, I would 100% not recommend this weekend to anyone that doesn’t like socialising, sunshine, beautiful surroundings, great local roads and medieval villages, good company, fantastic hosts, great food and a good old relax. If that all sounds awful I’d highly recommend not attending!

Having said all that, I might have been wrong, so I’ve booked in for next year just to make sure that I’ve assessed it fairly 😂😂😂

Thank you Sid and Ann for your extraordinary hospitality and tolerance, it is an honour to attend. In order to keep the rabble in check, next year I might start a cull of the attendees myself, if you could get one of the local knife sharpeners to put an edge on the arrows, that would be marvelous 👍😎

Oh, my wife and daughter had a fantastic time too and Soph is hoping Grace will attend again as she needs a pool buddy 👍
