2024 Himalayan 450

I believe the route avoiding war zones and sanctions would be:

India
Nepal
China
Kyrgyzstan
Uzbekistan
Turkmenistan
Caspian Sea
Azerbaijan
Georgia
Turkey
Choice of pan European routes

That would be quite the road trip!

Hmmm, makes you think !!!!

£4399 + £300 OTR charges = £4,699 but it's their current "sale" offers for remaining 2023 bikes. Current RRP for 2024 orders for the 450 Himalayan is closer to £5,750 plus OTR plus accessories. They're offering a tubeless rimmed version for £6K plus OTR (£300) plus accessories. Quite a hike in power to 40BHP (V's 24bhp for the 411) and an all up kerb weight of 196Kg.

My local dealer A& D Denbigh have posted on their Facebook page“ making room in the RE dept for the new 450” . Sounds imminent to me 👍

Just spoken with Paul Beach the manager who i know and he's given me the SP. They were expecting mid Feb to get the first dealer batch of 6 bikes which includes the available models but, due to the attacks on the ships meaning they are now going the long way it will now be mid March before they get them. Paul has applied for the two mocked up "roadshow" bikes to come to A&D so that he can put on a Himmy 452 two day event thing where people can go and have a touchy feely experience. As i said, they are non running bikes but, they will be "live" in all the other ways ie. display and all that. He says the Hanle Black with tubeless tyres will not have gold rims due to problems with the tubeless rim anodising process. Gold rims may happen but not initially. They are taking orders with a £500 deposit so, if you are so inclined, fill ya boots :D He's going to keep me posted so, if i get updates, so will you lot.

Cheers Tony , I saw Paul 10 days ago agreeing a deal on a scoot. Hopefully Pontadera production will come by truck 👍

Good point. Well made. :D

The V Strom would be crap off-road . The Himmy would be brilliant. But onroad the Strom is fabulous , even two up . The new Himmy can do roads but it’s really designed for being a durable plodder .
I would never in a million years have thought the Vstrom was half as good as it is .
I could happily have one as my only bike .
Get the Strom.

I’ve never ridden a Himmy though .

The original plan was to get the 450. It seems to have all the attractive features of the old one ( I enjoyed mine) with the main deficits removed. However, I'm reluctant to buy a Mk1 of any new bike and it may be a while before they're over here in any numbers anyway. Also, I'm unlikely to need the bike for anything but very light off roading so the Strom is the logical choice.

For me it's likely a toss up between the Hima 450 and the Triumph Scrambler X400. A local dealer had the Scrambler in but only offered a test ride on the Speed 400 (same engine). It had less than 1000 km so the EFI was limiting the revs and mixing below 4000 rpm, making it very unpleasant to ride through local german villages/towns with 30 kmh limits - the gearing makes 1st useless for this. 2nd the revs are below 3000 and its like a buckin' bronco.
Can only hope that the Hima 450 is going to be a bit better - way better gearing and useable performance from 2000/2500 rpm as its designed for off road. The comparison charts for torque especially show the difference those 53 cc make! ... sorry tried all the available options fb, insta, flickr and none are actually useable so will add it to my profile or something and re-edit this post.

I'm a triumph fan, but I'd still fancy the Himmy over the X400. Your torque graph only convinces me more. Only issue is I suspect getting hold of an X400 will be easier than getting hold of the Himmy.

Here that seems not to be the case. The local Triumph dealer has sold out all X400 until at least June. I am no 5 on the list for a JPS Hima 450. Due to arrive in April or early May.

Been talking with the manager of A&D Denbigh and have the latest on likely availability of the 450.
Now mooted to be end of April beginning of June and that's not all models, the top model, i forget the name, will likely be mid-summer. It also looks like the dealers initially will only get pre-ordered bikes. It's all a real feck up and Paul is despondent about it, having missed the March registrations which could have seen many new orders and new bikes going out.
Anyway, i have given up on them and bought a very nice Vstrom off him to replace the Himmy which, will be appearing for sale on the site shortly.

I had a look at the beast today at a local dealer. I have to say, it looked good in that white / gray camo type scheme. The sub frame is in a darker gray rather than black. A nice touch.

Initially the seat seemed a bit low. Once adjusted, the riding position was fine. The seat seemed a little too firm but that's easily sorted. Quality seemed good too: no spattered welds and some nice touches such as the chain concentric with the swing arm. Likewise the new digi display looked impressive.

Downside? The dealer wants a £1k deposit! I responded with the Scottish/Yorkshire war cry ...

Then again, I'd not be purchasing there anyway!
