Folks

I have an offer in front of me for a late 2024 build GSA with a host of extras. It's a new bike in BMW UK stock somewhere.

Are there any differences between late 2024 and a more recently built bike that I should know about? I presume software updates can be done at the dealer ( I do have a GS-911)??

My current bike is a late 2023 1250 GSA Trophy that has been totally faultless over the 9k miles so far & off to Cornwall next week so another thousand miles or so to come.

Cheers

December 24 here (pick up date) so a September 24 build.

14,724 miles since December, perfect. One software update done.

TE with everything apart from Radar cruise.

Hope this helps,

TD.

Mission Abandoned.....

Well postponed for the time being as the initial insurance quotes I got were in line with my current 1250 GSA figures, but when I got an actual registration and went through the process again it more than doubled. Oh and the fixed excess went up 4 fold. Feck that at my age.

So I canned the idea for the time being as there is clearly additional risk associated to the new bike that I'm not aware of. I'm not going to unnecessarily line the pockets of the insurance merchants, so will see how the figures look at my renewal in April and then potentially again when my bike hits 3 late 2026.

what sort of numbers £500 to 1 k or worse ?

more than double my existing premium and x4 on the excess.. I don't want a new bike that much essentially..

My insurance company tried that stunt on me as well... I rang around a few others and I ended up paying 20% switching from my 2018 1200 to a 2025 1300, which I think is not bad at all considering the difference in price and all that.

Well worth ringing around, you won't regret the upgrade.

I've just shelved it for the time being. Commuted on the GSA to the Trials GP over the last 3 days and it's still a joy to ride..

I dropped the value of my 1300 below £20k and the quote reduced big time to a sensible amount ( one quote was £10k, I kid you not). I figured the £22k showroom price would plummet below £20k on day one so why not insure it for £19999 and, bingo, £350 quote
