2024 NX500

Apart from price I do wonder why it is chosen by folk over the similar weight Transalp, there must be something good going on!

48bhp = A2 licence compatible.

Honda Transalp is a 755cc, 91bhp and £9k to buy.
Honda NX500 is a 471cc, 47bhp and probably around £6.5k to buy.

That is it in a nutshell and, let’s face it, if both were on a 300 mile ride and adhering to speed limits, how far behind do you thing the bike that has half the power and costs 25% less would be at the end of it? A few metres I expect.

In fact the cheaper bike would be ahead by a few miles, as the more expensive one, would be stopped for early fuel me thinks…

Looking at Honda’s figures the 500 should have a range 300 miles, 60 miles greater than the tranny.

if you ride motorbikes from pure economics then get a cb500x but if if I was on a 300 mile ride id rather be on the transalp any day. I found the 500x to be one of the dullest bikes ive owned . this new facelift NX is a kick in the teeth for the dominator name. but a lot of people like tepid I guess

Not everyone is a bat out the hell, you know, nor do they have an infinite depth pockets. Back in 2004, I wanted a PanEuropean 1300, but..

A: there was no way I could afford it.
B: if I could afford it, I’d unlikely to be able to get it insured
C: I have only held provisional licence for a matter of 6-8 months
D: I have settled for a brand new Honda Pantheon 125.

That was the only bike I have ever purchased outright for £2250.00

I’ve stuck with it for 7 years and rode 29k miles, dropped it twice on each side, been rammed up the back by Iceland home deliver van, had a dodgy woman driver doing a U-Turn in front of me in London over double white lines so I’ve let the scoot go, as you do. Then hit a patch of black ice on early Decembers morning at 60mph while on my way to work.

After all that, I’ve sold it 7 years later, with full Honda service history, for a princely sum of £1000.
Had a break of around 18 months maybe 24. Can’t remember exactly.
Then decided I fancied a Vespa. So in September 2013 I did buy myself a shiny white (rusty) and brand new Vespa 125 Super. Then In 2015, I’ve Picked up then well raved about Honda Forza 125.
Then in October of that year, I’ve done my test, sold the Forza and I. March of 2016 I purchased my first ever proper bike, you know the one to have. An ex demo and with second owner R1200GS In storm black, from Bahnstormer in Maidenhead.
What I am getting at, is that it took me 13 years to be able to afford to buy, insure and maintain a motorcycle that I wanted to have. Until. That point in my life, I did put up with what I was limited to.

For me My present cb500x doe's every thing I need , light weight, decent seat hight , tubeless tyres , cheap as chips to service & is just so economical on fuel ⛽. I've not regretted downsizing from numerous large adventure bikes over the years and I'm looking forward to test riding the nx500 some time soon.
I never gave the Transalp a thought because when it came out I was a bit disappointed with it and why do they keep on fitting tube tyre !.
Ian.
Just remembered a bikes for using not just for polishing :ROFLMAO:

I had a look at the nx500 and cb500x today. Very nice. But then……… a DCT NC 750 x caught my eye. I really like a DCT box.
