Sold !

Well not this year but certainly when I do swap

I am still loving the KTM TBH but that V2 SF certainly ticks a lot of boxes for me and I reckon it will be the best bike Ducati make in terms of smiles and laughs and usability

Agreed.
I can almost hear the whining from some of the vain brigade over on the Ducati Forum bemoaning the loss of 30 ish bhp, but as the guys state in the vid it’s also lost 18kgs and has loads of low down grunt .
Still pricey though .

People forget that the original Fireblade which was the daddy only had a claimed 120BHP and I suspect the word claimed is important

120BHP and 175KG is a recipe for fun

My pal who has literally been married to KTM for 20 odd years now had a rush of blood to the head and bought a V2S about 6 weeks ago.

It is now run in and serviced and so we have been out into Lincolnshire for our usual Sunday Hoon

I spent an hour on the V2S and what I can say is - it's a masterpiece !

Until the speed goes North of 100MPH it is pretty much as quick as the KTM 1390 which startled me and I dont really know how they have done it. The engine is sublime as is the feeling and the throttle response and the handling is just brilliant it is so nimble ( If it were mine I would have it into a suspension specialists and have it set up for me ) and it really is lightweight

My pal is about the same standard of riding as me so when I was back on my KTM I gave it some welly ( you have to know the roads around Reevsby and Wragby to get this) I was coming out of 90º corners and going full throttle through 2nd,3rd and 4th and at no point did I feel I was pulling away - well maybe 10 yards - until we were well over 100.

On those roads it would take some bike or some talent to be any faster than the V2 will go

I am now saving up because I didnt expect to be quite as envious as I am

You should try the Pani V2S as well. Supposedly very roomy and comfortable.
Kate loves it

Arriving in Rick's garage sometime soon? :D

I tried the new V2 Streetfighter using the same engine recently. Surprisingly was told I was the first customer to try it as the first one has only just landed at Riders Ducati, Bristol. Great engine with slightly more shove than the 950 and improved low and mid torque over the outgoing 155bhp models (they make most power above 7K revs but the 950 is way more useable below that). Surprisingly smooth motor. Much more sensible peg and bar layout, much more road friendly and lighter too compared with the older panigale (apparently it will share a very similar rider triangle with the new V2 pani) What I didn't like though was the saddle. It was like a lump of wood compared with the 950 super sport, and I couldn't do many miles on that as a result. As a useable road bike, I think these new V2 bikes will sell like hot cakes. They're a much more road oriented machine and all the better for it with the new motor and friendlier riding position. They will replace both the older panigale/streetfighter V2s and the older 950 super sport models which will no longer be able to meet more stringent EU emissions. Ducati have refocussed the old Pani to ride much more like the 950 supersport but with more top end shove. This will make them a handy track tool too.

It’s a great bike , but let down by its suspension , I would have bought one if it handled better when pushed . My V 4 handles way better as the suspension is so good . If they used the same on the V2 I would be tempted to , but it’s made to a price as you can see by the parts . Shame really as it’s a cute bike.

The standard V2 Showa/Sachs suspension, when pushed hard, is easily bettered by the ohlins set up on the 950 supersport. Start to spec the V2 up to 950s spec and it becomes spendy very quickly, so I'd probably buy a newer V4 instead for that reason. They do seem to be softer sprung for the road and you'll find their limits on road a lot easier than the outgoing V2 but that is sort of the point. I visited Baffle Haus today on the 950 and a Panigale 959 rolled in. The owner seemed a bit stiff after his ride and I wasn't surprised! Riding position made perfect sense for a track bike but looked hideously uncomfortable as a road bike, which is where the newer V2 scores. No point in having 155bhp if the bike is only happy at three figure speeds on track.

When I took my Monster 1200s to Worcester Ducati on Thursday, they gave me a 2026 Streetfighter V2S for the day. Only 279 miles on the clock, but was told it was run in enough and not to worry about keeping the revs down.

Obviously, I was soon riding at a pace that Marquez would have struggled to match, carving beautiful lines though series of bends and grinding the pegs. People gasped in awe as I swept by and other bikers waved me past, surrendering to my, and the bike's, supreme talents.

Meanwhile, back on planet earth, I enjoyed the bike and thought its light and easy handling, combined with a punchy motor might tempt me to enquire about a PCP deal. But the more I rode it, the more I thought it was like having a young lover - firm, tight and exciting in all the right ways, but not long-term satisfying in the deep and comfortable style of a more mature companion. I am approaching 72, after all... So no PCP enquiry and really happy to be back on the old girl, so to speak.
