So basically save a fortune and just upgrade the shock on the one you have then. New one £10400 and a decent used one with extras 6-7k plus a decent shock @600

I haven't watched the link posted, but did watch this one with Chris Northover. Looks good, and they are one of the most popular middleweight ADV bikes on trails for a reason.

Yeah pretty much - Yamaha seems to be sticking with the proven engine and just refining the rest of the package. Not a bad thing if it already works well.
Running a '25 Rally and loving it. Last bike was an 1800 Goldwing, preceded by an '17 FJR1300 and '16 MG Stelvio NTX. Can't carry the missus on it, but for banging around the local roads for the hour spins which is all I get these days, it's an absolute joy.
Well the two owners didn’t appear to distressed, they were pretty pleased with the service delivered by the dealership. What exactly was wrong with the clutches anyway?
However the journalists complained that the clutch cover stuck out a bit, in tests (in reality you soon get used to it and it’s not an issue)
So in 2025 Yamaha did a mild makeover and re-designed the plastic clutch protector and clutch cover & basket …..and voila we now have an on/off grabby clutch and/or clutch failures
