It would be a perfect TET bike.
My 701 was great on UK TET.

Agreed . Bought my Hero 200 specifically to fuck around on the TET in Brittany . I’d kill myself on the 690 with 79 bhp and only weighing 177 kgs fully fuelled .
BUT I see this new 690 Rally as the perfect replacement for my 701 LR ‘Rally’
Only sold it as a mate was selling his as new 1290R and I wanted something to take the wife away on .
Did two trips then got a puppy and now she’s lost interest . Kind of wish I’d kept it .
Very similar weight to the new Rally .
I fitted full Nomad rally tower, racks , skid plate etc and it was 182 kgs fully fuelled with 25 litres . The new 690 is 5 kilos lighter with 5 litres less fuel so just a tad heavier in comparison like for like and with no racks .
All I’d need to do is get some racks and another Renazco seat , though the Rally OE seat looks rather thin and I wouldn’t want a much thicker seat due to the already lofty seat height .
If there’s no cruise then fit a Veridian then swap the tyres at some point for STRs.

I’m currently riding the KTM rally in Italy on my on 640 adv.
Chris Birch has been wanging around on one of the 690 rally’s for the last two days, making every trail look easy.
Bike looks good in the flesh and goes like stink but everything does in Birch’s hands.
Feeling rather inadequate now!

Very entertaining video and great photography, much more engaging than the average promo vid.
Shame at the start there’s the pretence and all the talk to try and give the impression it’s all been, and going to be spontaneous without any storyboard planning. No need for that in my opinion and devalues it a bit for me.
The bike looks great and like a lot in that class would be more bike than I could do justice to.
Still, I never could do justice to the 1190R’s I had but it was bloody great trying (or pretending as experts would have viewed it
) so I’ll just have to be content with lusting after this one until the lottery comes through for me.Look forward to reading about all the mods folk on here do to make me even more jealous

At today’s lunch stop I had a chat with Mr Birch re his initial thoughts on the bike.
He said he’d been quite disparaging about the 690 in the past but felt this new model has been upgraded across the board, not just the additional tanks and nav tower / screen.
He said the gearbox was much better and the whole bike felt more nimble. He was very impressed. ( though he’s a brand ambassador so I suppose he might say that anyway).
Look forward to test riding one in the flesh.
I’m betting it comes in around £12k which is too much for me but ho hum.
