25 pound stena boat fare??

They have replied to the facebook posts now. Seems they don't like discussing some things in the open.

"Hi Dessie and David, thank you both for your comments and feedback. If you would like to PM us your contact number we can get one of our agents to give you a call. Hope this helps!"

Spoke to a very friendly girl from Customer Service.

Seems that the minority have ruined it for the majority with some folk electing to book a Day Return, clear off to Scotland / Northern Ireland and not come back the same day but instead book a further Day Return from the other side at the end of their break to get back.

This proved to be beneficial to the rider concerned as the price of a single ticket is circ. £40 so it saved them money.

Part of the logic it seems in raising the price and offering the 30hrs is to discourage this.

They may consider offering the standard day return again but it will be priced around the same price of a single ticket i.e. £40 to help avoid abuse of same.

Pity but given the above, I understand where they're coming from.

Now also had a call from Stena and yes, the selfish minority has ruined it for everyone else and shot us all in the foot. Take comfort on the few pounds you've saved and think about how much more you and everyone else is going to pay now by being so selfish. :(

The nice lady did say that it is being looked at, but I think we can all kiss goodbye to a reasonably cheap day out in Scotland or vice versa in Northern Ireland.

Thats a sickner for sure, especially as you say Davy its the minority trying to save a few pound.

I'm not sure I go for that excuse. Surely they could police it when people come to board or limit day trip bookings to one a maximum of one per month. I'm sure they could have found a way round it.

They are bound to lose out over it. Bikes take up so little room and any time I've had a day trip I've always bought food and coffees so they've been getting £40/50 out of me each time.

I did ask about this very fact and was told that they could not police it at all. All to do with being able to book on the 'net in one name and use another name for the return trip. Also some laws or something stops them taking more money off your card should you be found out. Whatever, it's a sad outcome for all as Stena provided the service and some people were abusing it.

Well people might change theirs names on the different tickets but, unless they are changing their bike the registration number would remain the same so it's not THAT difficult to work out a solution. All they need to decide then is how to penalise the defaulters!

Well that's pretty good news. They still want £50 for a weekday trip, but I'm happy enough that the weekend days are back to £25.

I don't think so Davy. We had a guy from Ballymena in the showroom on Wednesday who said he was over on a £25 day return. :nenau

Just hope now no one rips the arse out of it by booking 2 day trips instead of a standard return
