Hi, not sure if anyone has mentioned this already, but I discovered that my Garmin 2610 will quite happily handle a CF card >2Gb in size!

I bought a cheap 8Gb CF card from Ebay and a USB2 CF card writer, dumped the WHOLE of CNE v9 onto it (2.2Gb in size)... plugged the card into the 2610... and it all loaded up fine!

Might be handy for you guys, particularly not having to chop and change your map selections all the time.

Dunno what size the CNE v10 will be  but hopefully it'll fit on the 8Gb card and the 2610 will still read it all... will wait and see.

The 2610 only has a USB1.1 interface... using an external USB2 CF card reader gives you up to 40-times faster writes.

ive had my 2610 with a 2gb for four years a toured many times throuhout europe:thumb

Hi,

Thanks for sharing that. Just uploaded v9 to my 2GB card or rather select bits of it much to my annoyance due to the more than 2GB size of the complete mapset. When you say 'loaded up fine' does that mean it's having no probs calculating routes, finding addresses, etc.? If so, think I'll be ordering a bigger card...

Hi Larry,

So far, so good. I've seen no issues with the 2610 and 2.2Gb map file on the 8Gb CF card.

Ray
