What exactly is the difference between a 2610 bought from an electronics discount shop and a 2610 bought from somewhere like Touratech? There are phrases bandied about like " Adapted for motorcycle use".What does that mean exactly?
I've also seen "Grade B" 2610's on the net, what does that mean?

Buy an Atlantic basemap 2610 from a Europe-based Garmin authorised dealer. Make sure that it's new and not previously registered.

Some companies like Touratech claim that they can improve the reliability of GPS, generally by pulling them apart and cementing any dodgy parts with resin. IMHO, this is a waste of money and effort as the units are perfectly reliable anyway. Apart from the buttons, they have no moving parts in any case!

Do not but a 2620 as these have a microdrive instead of a CF card. No amount of resin will improve their reliability.

I've no idea what a Grade B product is, but I wouldn't touch one with a barge-pole. They perhaps have the wrong basemap or have been previously registered. Either way it could cost you serious £££s to resolve.

grade B normally means damaged/repaired/returned stock when buying electronics.

it often turns out to be brand new sealed boxes. sometimes not.
