If you have already installed MapSource on your computer, the driver is there, on your hard disk, the only problem is that the computer does not know where it is.
So, you have to help the computer find the driver. This only has to be done once. After the computer has found the driver once (with your help), it will know where to go to look in the future.
The file that the computer needs to find before it can communicate with the GPSR is called "grmnusb.inf". Search for this file on your computer, using the normal search utility that you use for finding files. When you find this file, right-click on it, and choose "INSTALL" from the drop-down menu that appears when you right-click. This should enable the computer to find it OK in the future.
If you don't have the file, or if you are having difficulty finding it, you can download a new file from the Garmin site, just go
here. Note that after you download this file, you have to double-click on it to run it (to execute it). When you double-click, the file just unpacks itself to a temporary location, such as
C:\TEMP\USB_GPS_DRIVERS or similar. So, make note of where it unpacks to, then after it unpacks, go to that location, right click on the file ending in ".inf", and select INSTALL from the right-click menu.
Hope this gets you running OK. This whole business is a Windows issue, not a Garmin issue.
