OK...a lot of the time when I type in a name of a street directly into my 2610 it more often than not shows no trace ( I only want GB and another question would be how to delete other countries etc )...but if I look it up in mapsource, there it is and easily downloads in the unit and then I can see a map with the name already there... so any ideas why the actual unit addresses arn't showing ? If I have a rough idea of the area, I can even search the map in the actual unit and there it is but it didn't show up in the names index in the unit:nenau

Or is it just me :(

are you sure you have actualy transfered all the maps and the detailed map data to the unit?
All the info is in map source its just a question of did you actualy transfer all of it.

With the earlier Garmins, it's often a matter of what you search. Try just putting in the name of the street without St. or Street or Ave or Cres. or whatever.....(not "whatever" obviously....)

HTH

:thumb2 will try that also

Incidently, just updated my Navigator V9 (and deleted V8)....is it possible to download all the mapsource to my 2610 ( ie any new maps/addresses etc in the newer version? ) I'm OK at finding places and then downloading them in the 2610 but just wondering if I can put Mapsource into my 2610 ?

A wee problem with a confusion of terminology methinks....:rob

Mapsource is the Garmin software which allows you to view and manipulate the maps - City Navigator and others - on your computer.

You upload mapsets, composed of map tiles to your GPS unit. These should contain all the addresses, routing information etc that you need. You can upload individual or batches of POIs (Points of Interest). On a 2610, I suspect those go into the unit's internal memory along with routes etc, whereas the maps are loaded onto the CF card.

BTW, City Navigator V9 is the second most recent mapset; the latest being City Navigator 2009.

If all else fails -

:D You sound like Tarka.

I'm almost there...for instance sedley street liverpool is on mapsource but isn't on my 2610 when I type the same details into the unit. Sedley street has been there since 1914 :augie

Oh well...just use mapsource is the answer :thumb2

Oh that's nice - I go out of my way to help you and you accuse me of sounding like a mulleted, anally retentive, otter....

Right then, that's it.....I'm going to tell my Scouser joke.

Q: How do you make a Scouse omelette.....?

A: First, steal six eggs.....

Oh and FWIW, I just booted up my nüvi 760 and my Zumo 660; both of them running City Navigator NT 2010.20 and they both found Sedley St by the time I'd entered "Sedl".

So if you really want to find addresses quickly and easily - pinch a new GPS...! :augie

:D
