2610 in ireland?

just came back from ireland and would like to know why the mapping detail on my 2610 was so bad over there ie just big town's and main road's,any ideas??

It's nothing to do with your 2610 per se. It's to do with the level of detail in the maps of Ireland contained in City Navigator. Go into Mapsource on your PC and check out the maps of Ireland. It's one of the countries for which detailed digital maps aren't available.
 
Weird thing is OSNI for N Ireland and the OSI were among the first countries in the world to digitally map the country. Thing is they won't sell the mapping to companies like Navteq who do Garmin mapping for a reasonable cost. The mapping should get better recently Navteq employed a couple more digital mappers to drive the roads of Ireland.......its actually chaeper for them to do this than buy the pre existing maps....Madness!!

OSNI charge the Council I work for £10,000 PA for vector and raster maps for a strip of land approx 18miles X 5miles god knows what they'd be looking for the whole province and the Meta data (place names etc) to go along with it!!:confused:
