Hi Folks

Just trying to get to grips with my new toy. Got the hang of most things on the GPS unit, but trying to plan complicated routes on mapsource not so good.

When I create a route the waypoint files go into alphabetical order and cock the route up, is there a way of stoping this happening?

Cheers

James

Open up the route using "route properties" and highlight the bottom one, there should be a yellow up arrow near by. This helps you change the order of the waypoints. That work?

Hi John

Good to see somebody else with a proper name ! The only problem with the method you have described is that if you have twenty different waypoints you could be mesing about all day!

Cheers

I can't see how this is happening, as you add the waypoints to the route planner they stop in that order when you get Mapsource to calclate a route using them.

Have you read this and tried planning your route using the methods I posted?

:)

James, use the "route tool" then and hop from waypoint to waypoint as you make the route that you want. Then if you need to add another between the present ones, use the "selection tool", looks like an arrow, to drag the route onto a road / POI etc that you want the route to touch on.

Hopefully this makes sense.:)

Whatton

As you explained in you tutorial you have to rearange the Waypoints into the original order that you put them in. My mapsource seems to put them in alphabetical order.

It is fine if you only have three Way points but a bit of a problem if you have twenty!

Any more ideas !

I had to rearrange them in my tutorial because I added them all in one go, by highlighting the top one holding shift and then highlighting the bottom one. I did it this way to show it could be done.

But if you just highlight one, add it, then repeat adding the waypoints one by one in the order you want them to be in your route then they will stop in that order :thumb2

Whattons right, but if its a "complicated route" with 20 or so waypoints, you can let the 2610 unit Autoarrange them for you if you really wanted to, but it shouldn't take more than 10 seconds to insert and re-arrange each waypoint in Mapsource.

I think I've only used the Autoarrange feature twice in over a year.
