Checked the valves on my 2010 GSA at 26k miles, all the valves are still in tolerance, inlets towards the lower limits and exhausts at the higher limits, surprised thought one would have drifted in 26000 miles

can see minimal colour change on the cam lobe peaks

question is this the norm that clearances on this engine dont vary too much with miles

when have others had to adjust the shims

my 06 has had its 2nd valve check in 20k run, only one valave needed the smallest of tweaks, so the answer seems like, no they dont move much

maybe an argument to push the service mileages for this out, but maybe as its so simple to do its not an issue that BMW are bothered with??

73,500 miles on my F800GS and still within tolerance :pullface

Is this " Dave the Mod " of Southampton University? Surely no one else would have a Lambretta on GS forum?

Mr Ainscow how you doing, saw a Dobbin (cb650 for others) last week and thought of you

Traded the GSXR 1000 in for GSA two weeks ago, put it down to old age. 200 mile ride to work in Dorset each week, bloody great passing petrol stations without having to fill up every 45 minutes! Son Tom wasn't too impressed at first, he quickly figured out the GSA is probably 50 mph slower than the old man's Last bike so feels his teenage credibility is compromised. Daughter was much more forthright, so the Triple Black GSA will forever be known as "the Faggot bike". Drop me a line at Steve.ainscow@ hotmail.com, loads more news. Good to see you are still on two wheels,
Steve A

Having hijacked Dave's thread, bump to put it back on topic. Are BMW valve clearances really that consistant?
