A quick question so that I maybe forearmed.

Has anyone experienced an occasional problem (more prevalent when the engine is warm) coming from 1st into 2nd and then into 3rd which manifests itself as if you hadn't fully pulled the clutch in. Worse 1st to 2nd not so bad 2nd to 3rd. The rest are OK. The result being a sensation through the gear lever that you can feel the gears meshing / rubbing together?

I already have had "they all do that" from the dealer. As there has been no improvement after the conversation I have booked the bike in for them to check it out.

My 17 gs gearbox is sweet through all the gears compared to the 14 bike.

I've got Sept 16 GSA TE Euro 4 and the gearbox is not the best. I've had the same issues which feels like you're trying for a clutch up wheelie.

Coming from a Multistrada it's just very clunky. I also had the "they all do that" and "you should have tried the old one!" speil from the dealer at it's 1st service. I have noticed an improvement now as have nearly 3k on it but it's still by far the worst gearbox on any motorbike I've owned.

Unfortunately they do seem to be like that, mine certainly was. The first three gears utter shite, up or down the box, the second three are fine.
I have a 2017 te now. and as others have said, the gearbox is like it should have been in the first place.

Yup I'm getting exactly the same thing. Dealers have tried to replicate it but as yet can't find a problem. It's a 2017 euro 4 with 1300 miles on it.

My April 2016 Euro 3 bike is the same. From memory, my 2010 twin cam was the same.

I thought the gearbox on my Sept 16 GSA TB was OK, but riding my new Rallye, they've done something since September, and this one is buttery smooth in all gears.

My 2014 GS gearbox was so bad I sold it. I will buy another GS at some stage but only when I know I will get a decent gearbox

My September 16 Euro 4 GS suffers from exactly the same issue. 1st - 2nd and 2nd - 3rd both up and down the box, the rest are really smooth. It feels like the gears rattle together and won't mesh, this causes a vibration through the gear lever. My dealer fitted Gilles foot pegs and levers from new, so I thought these may need some adjustment but maybe not if you are having the same problem. I've already discussed this with the dealer, so I guess it's time to get it checked out.

I have the bike booked into the dealer on Thursday afternoon and will update after that.

I'd suggest leaving it with them for a few days so if use. Mine is a sporadic issue and on their 10 min test ride, guess what ? They found no issue.

A friend of mine saw a conversation on a forum that the BMW LC gear box doesn't like it when the engine oil level is full. The recommendation is to maintain the bike so that the oil level is at half way up the eyeglass. Something to do with oil pressure and not allowing the clutch mechanism to operate efficiently.
I've experiment and reduced the oil level in mine accordingly and the gear changes are a lot sweeter. Now is only crunches between 1-2 only very occasionally. I rode it around town for an hour today with only 1 crunched gear change. R

I picked up my 63 plate today that just had a new replacement short engine etc fitted (corrosion) - the difference was like light and day. Much better.
