I have an 800 mile 1200GS and it is jumping out od 2nd gear under load on the way up from 1st. Just started last night and I am worried about touring to the coast this weekend. So it is going into Woolaston and we are off in the car.
Has anyone else had anything like this? I hope it is not serious. I don't fancy intrusive surgery on such a new bike?
The screen still rumbles like an earthquake under 3k - apparently there is a mod for this?

I think lowering the gearlever pedal should be tried first, sounds like its set too high. With the screen - unbolt it at the front pivot points, remove the pivots and slide a small rubber o ring on to either shaft then refit. Sorts out the rattle

when the screen is off the two mounting lugs pull out sidewards
just wrap them with plumbers tpe a replace ...sorted
mine was jumping out of 4th for the first 1000 miles [under load] but then it just gradually went may not be the same though

...2nd gear is tricky especially when cold. You will find that the problem will almost dissapear if you adjust your gear selector as low as it will go....the limit is so that it doesn't clash with the sidestand.

See the 1200 FAQ.

Thanks as always

Thanks as always.
The bike is back at Woolaston now. They have kindly lent me a bike. The fault intuitively felt more serious than an adjustment. But I hope I am wrong. They tell me that it could need a new g/box. Coming from an R1 I have always found the box on the GS to be surprisingly good - except it has to be said anywhere around 1st-neutral-2nd and down again.
Shame because we were off touring this weekend - not the same in the car. But that is what warranties are about I guess. Thanks once again..
